BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.

Mark Nesbitt dominates out of Blandford (2), taking the top nine in the federation.

Saturday May 31st saw our birds at Blandford Forum in Dorset for the second successive week. It was a lovely day, and Alys liberated the 1148 birds entered by 61 members from 8 clubs at 10-55 in a South West wind. The general consensus was that the birds would exceed the mile a minute mark, and this is how it turned out, with excellent returns.

Mark Nesbitt of Rugeley, flying at the Hill Ridware club had yet another top drawer team performance, having nine birds on the drop, and these took the top nine positions in the federation, all timed in 9 seconds; Nine seemed to be the magic number; brilliant flying. The winner on 1863.6 was a yearling dark hen who is making a mark this year, she was 1st club; 1st Fed Salisbury on May 10th, and was Mark’s first bird back in the MCC Sennen Cove race on Whit Bank holiday Monday, taking 6th Open. Her sire is a Leo Hereman off “Tommy”; her dam a grand daughter of Adam Wealthall’s top Lambrecht “Snowball”. Runner up on 1863.3 was a 2yo blue Leo Hereman hen off a son of “Isla”.
