The Solway Federation (100/1839) were down at Lymm on Sunday 12th May. They were liberated at 07.00am into a light West wind and as we all know, it’s the wind that’s the deciding factor in how the race turns out. The birds were coming in wide from the East with most of them actually coming back down from the North and as to be expected the Federation was won over in Langholm. In fact Langholm took seven of the leading ten diplomas. Well done to D.Norden who timed the leading two birds, a two-year old Chec Pied and a yearling Chec Pied with velocities of 1403 and 1384. Following right behind was R.V.Graham with four good birds taking 3rd, 4th, 7th and 9th Fed doing 1378, 1376, 1354 and 1340. A.Henderson takes 8th Fed on 1342. The other three Federation positions went to Springfield fanciers Mr & Mrs Gus Power who had two taking 5th and 6th on 1368 and 1359. Raymond White is 10th Fed doing 1337.

Springfield H.C. 8/173
Mr & Mrs Gus Power timed the leading two. They timed a three-year old Chec Cock and a two-year old Blue Cock with velocities of 1368 and 1359.
Raymond White takes 3rd doing 1337 and Gordon Grant & Son (Loft 2) are 4th on 1333.
Hoddam F.C. 8/139
Winning their first race of the season is Mr & Mrs J Graham. I timed two of Ron Crook’s yearlings this week to take 1st and 3rd Club with velocities of 1311 and 1302.9. This was a good race for me having full returns thirty-four out of thirty-four.

Eastriggs H.C. 13/264
Nice to see Mr & Mrs Mark Goldie take 1st and 4th on 1273 and 1254. Mark has just had a spell in hospital and has had a hard time of it so I’m pleased to see him back in action and taking the leading position.
John Pollock takes 2nd on 1271 and E Hodgson & Son are 3rd doing 1260.
Brydekirk H.C. 8/191
A good win here for R.B.J.Renwick with a velocity of 1299, followed by S Irving Jnr (Loft 1). Scott took 2nd and 3rd on 1278 and 1277.
In 4th place was H Dobie doing 1272.
Lockerbie H.C. 8/181
Kenny Thomson takes this one doing 1326 and four yards behind him is the ‘in form’ loft of George and Lindsay Firth, they took 2nd and 3rd on 1322 and 1321. Michael Currie up in Moffat is 4th on 1314.
Annan H.C. 15/238
After taking 1st and 2nd last week he goes and does it again, well done to Angus Simmons, his leading two birds had velocities of 1260 and 1254. A.Nicholson comes in 3rd doing 1237 and R S R Rome & R J Rome is 4th on 1227.
Langholm H.C. 4/103
D Nordon is 1st and 2nd here with R V Graham taking 3rd and 4th. The velocities being 1403, 1384, 1378 and 1376.
Dumfries F.C. 13/300
Jim Seaton takes this one with a three-year old Blue Cock doing 1237. Jim’s bird also takes 1st West Section.
Going well at the moment is the loft of Krause & Charteris they timed two birds to take 2nd and 4th Club, 4th and 6th Section on 1194 and 1189. D Turner is 3rd Club, 5th Section doing 1193.
There were two other birds from the Club in the Section result; Terry Richardson taking 8th doing 1188 and a second bird for D Turner taking 10th on 1186.
Nith Valley H.C. 14/162
A good win here for Skachill & McCormack, they took 1st Club, 2nd West Section on 1223. J Russell was next timing two and taking 3rd Club as well as 7th west Section with velocities of 1207 and 1188.
R Stewart is 4th Club, 9th Section on 1188.
Dalbeattie H.C. 5/67
W. Anderson takes 1st and 4th doing 1025 and 980. Wug’s timer that won the race won 1st Club from Lymm last year, well done!
N McCulloch & Son are 2nd and 3rd doing 1018 and 995.
Did you notice the difference between the East and West velocities? 1403 against 1025.

The Club was down at Wollaston on Saturday 12th May and were liberated at 06.30am into a light West wind.
A good race was flown by all with very few losses reported.
R & M Seaton won the race doing 1409 (A wee bit faster than the Fed from Lymm). Mr & Mrs Chris Little were 2nd on 1394 and S J Irving Jnr (Loft 2) is 3rd doing 1310, Jim Ferguson takes 4th on 1307.
