The Solway Federation (107/2055) were down at Charnock-Richard on Saturday 4th May. After a while the convoy of 2,055 birds were liberated at 11.45am into a fresh South-West wind, however at the home end it was blowing very strong and the birds were homing in from the East in small batches. The winning velocities in the East side of the Federation recorded high values with Langholm being just over the 1500s. In the West side up in Dumfries and Dalbeattie they were down in the 1200s flying into the wind, even so returns were good.
Well done to R.V.Graham over in Langholm who timed the leading four birds in the Fed and had a further two down the list, and overall he took 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th Open with velocities of 1504, 1465, 1463, 1459, 1440 and 1435. Ralston’s loft is in top form at the moment; he’s already had two races and took the leading six in both.
Raymond White of Springfield takes 5th Open on 1447.
D.Norden of Langholm is 6th doing 1442.
G.A.& L.Firth from Lockerbie is 9th Open on 1412.
A.Henderson of Langholm takes 10th with 1399.
Lockerbie fanciers George and Lindsey Firth are racing well this season winning for three weeks on the trot as well as topping the Federation West Section last week, well done!

Eastriggs H.C. 12/271
A good win here for Mr & Mrs Chris Little, they timed with time to spare doing a velocity of 1311.
J.Martin came in 2nd doing 1264 and L.Mitchell is 3rd on 1260.
New Club member John Hodgson & Son was 4th on 1259.
Lockerbie H.C. 9/211
It’s three on the trot for G.A.& L.Firth timing two birds to take 1st and 2nd Club with velocities of 1412 an 1392. The partnership timed a two-year old Blue Bar Cock that had twenty yards to spare over its loft mate. The winner also took 9th West Section, 9th Open from 2,055 birds competing.
Ewan Hind & Son timed the next two doing 1327.7 and 1327.2.
Brydekirk H.C. 9/182
For the second week in a row it’s Ewart Warwick taking the honours with a velocity of 1276 followed by R.B.J.Renwick on 1257.
H.Dobie got the next two taking 3rd and 4th Club with velocities of 1240 and 1221.
Springfield H.C. 7/138
Once again winning the Club we have Raymond White who timed two birds to take 1st and 3rd with velocities of 1447 and 1392. Raymond’s timer being a yearling Chec Hen.
Mr & Mrs Gus Power & Allen take 2nd on 1397. Gordon Grant & Son come in 4th doing 1375.
Hoddam F.C. 9/181
W.Gilmour times the leading two birds a yearling hen and a two-year old Cock doing 1360 and 1328. This was a good win for him as it was the day of his 75th birthday, (you’re catching up on me Jack!).
John Little timed in to get 3rd Club on 1323 and Jimmy Dalgliesh takes 4th on 1322.
Annan H.C. 18/329
Club secretary Angus Simmons had a good race timing three birds to take 1st, 2nd and 4th on velocities of 1303, 1287 and 1269, his winner being a yearling Chec Cock.
J.Willacy came 3rd doing 1270.
Nith Valley H.C. 14/189
W.J.Smith takes 1st Club, 4th West Section on a velocity of 1251.
R.Stewart is 2nd doing 1238 and the winner is in again taking 3rd on 1221.
Dalbeattie H.C. 6/91
New member Neil Black takes this one timing a nice late breed Blue Cock to win his first race ever, Neil’s bird was doing a velocity of 974.
W. Anderson is 2nd doing 972 with N. McCulloch & Son taking the next two doing 970 and 937.
Dumfries F.C. 14/304
Getting a good start to the season is the partnership of Krause & Charteris; they take 1st and 2nd Club, 1st and 2nd West Section with velocities of 1265 and 1257.
Jim Seaton took 3rd Club, 3rd West Section doing 1253 and came in again to take 5th West Section.
Mr & Mrs Karl Guenther & Grandson take 7th and 8th West Section on 1236 and 1235. Terry Richardson is 9th West Section on 1232.
Annan & District Premier.
The Club was down at Stafford for this one and taking the first three positions is Eastriggs fancier Jim Ferguson with velocities of 1335, 1334 and 1310.
Scaife & Garner from Brydekirk came in 4th on 1281.
