North Liverpool Federation

Hello Folks, it’s that time again, this week the federation had another fantastic race, this time from Worcester, a distance ranging from 81 miles to approximately 90 miles.

It was a tour of liberation sites for our convoyer/secretary this week. After a change to our race program early week due to an event at Monmouth, John Heague set off on his travels on Friday evening to Bath-Walcot with little knowledge that a rugby event was taking place at the liberation site until his arrival at 6am when he was approached by the organiser who queried their attendance. Forever keeping our members updated, John informed us that our next option was Mangotsfield, but it didn’t end there.  Upon arrival the conditions were not fit for liberation, covered in thick fog and no wind it was time to reconsider our options. Hereford had full cloud covered and a threat of rain whilst Worcester was wall to wall sunshine, so common sense prevailed. Once the birds had been given chance to settle down and quench any thirst, liberation took place at 11am into a light South East wind.

Coming back short to Worcester meant club secretaries didn’t have distances, as this was a new race point for our members or at least one that hasn’t been used for many a year, which meant John’s work wasn’t complete. Upon his return home, he worked proactively to supply all secretaries with distances to avoid any delays in results being published as the RPRA was closed until Tuesday due to the Early May Bank Holiday, thanks John.

Over to the results now, and the first club up this week is the Kirkdale WMHS where Mr & Mrs Muirhead & Son bag their first win of the season with a yearling grizzle cock bought from Matt Munslow’s excelsior sale – thanks matt. Johnson Bros & Pattison take 4th spot, sire is bred by Terry Rigney whilst the dam was bred by the late Roy Reid.

The youth approving the job

Well, that’s it for this week, well done to all the winners, it’s nice to see so many new names appearing within the results each week, it shows the class within the city. Next week’s race is from Monmouth, and I will hand the job over to fellow scribe Daniel Pearson who will cover the article for one week whilst I’m away on my travels.
