Hello folks,
North Liverpool Federation’s first young bird race of 2014 took place from Ludlow on Saturday 26th July. With the heat wave engulfing the UK showing no signs of relenting the decision was made to liberate early and give the youngsters the best possible chance of reaching home before the arrival of the midday sun. And so it was at 6.50am the strings were cut and the convoy made for home in a light north west wind.
Ste & Pat Moffitt takes 1st and 4th positions at the Edgehill. The winner is a blue Hofken cock bred from a pair of stock purchased as a Father’s Day present by sons Neil & Stephen from Mr & Mrs Johnson of Shropshire. Second timer is a cheq Van Loon hen out of a cock bred by Neil Bradley when paired to one of Ste & Pat’s Planet Brothers hens. Alan & Colin Baker take 2nd and 3rd positions with an Irish import: a cheq cock bred by Ralph Wheatley of Galway, followed by a black Alfons Slaets hen. Congratulations Ste & Pat.
Mick McDonald gets his young bird campaign off to an absolute flier by taking the first four positions at the Netherton (5/169), a result that also he duplicates in the federation. The winner is bred from a hen which won at Yeovil earlier this season followed by a youngster through Charlie Davies and a youngster through stock obtained from Charlie McArdle & Terry Archbold. Velocities 1540.6, 1540, 1539.7, 1539.4. Superb flying Mick well done. Thanks Stan.
Terry Hodson takes 1st position at the Central clocking a Walter Docx x Van Loon bred out of stock obtained from Teddy Davin junior which are down from ace racer Lewis. Billy Early takes 2nd and 4th positions with 2 youngsters bred out of stock obtained from Miller Brothers. Terry Shawcross takes 3rd position with a youngster bred out of stock obtained from Danny Regan & Lee Davison. Thanks Terry and congratulations mate.

New member Thomas Gilligan breaks his duck at the Spellow also taking 4th position on 1523 and 1400. The winner is a Mandelartz youngster bred by Ste Williamson & John Murphy followed by another gift pigeon bred by Billy Reeves. Billy Crompton takes 2nd position on 1416, no further details to hand. Eddie Spencer takes 3rd position on 1405 with a youngster bred out of stock obtained from former club-mate, the late Tommy McFadden. John Warren, son & Marty Garrity take 1st and 2nd positions at the Bootle (6/148) with a Willy Jacobs x Roger Maris followed by a Willy Jacobs on 1500.5 and 1500.2. RSMF Lofts take 3rd and 4th positions on 1481.3 and 1481, no further details to hand. Thanks Keith.
Davey Rimmer and Peter Cleminson (assisted by Peter’s wife Christine) take 1st and 2nd at the Riverside on 1512 and 1467. The winner is a Willy Thas x Walter Docx with the sire coming from Tommy Hulme of Sandbach and the dam from Charlie McArdle & Terry Archbold. The second timer is also Willy Thas x Verheye again via Tommy Hulme. Graham, Wendy & Connor Muirhead take 3rd position on 1461 with a Willy Jacobs bred in the stock loft at Paddy Cousins. The winner is a hen of 2013 KDBD National sprint young bird champion Dirk van den Bulk bloodlines, followed by a Lambrecht x Danny van Dyke and a Planet Brothers x Edwin Hoogland youngster. Team Heague take 1st position at the Princes Park with a blue cock purchased at the Liverpool Classic Club sale via Dickie & Gregory Spring‘s national lines. Sid Powell clocks a blue Van Reet cock out of his good 17 year old producer who is responsible for a number of winners. Billy Dooley, Paddy Rowan & Sid Chapman take 3rd position with a Walter Docx x Camiel Cardon youngster bred out of White Wonder a winner of 10x1st and breeder of some good pigeons for the lads and she in turn comes from the loft of Mick and Adam O’Hara. Ian Fanning & Ronnie Elliott take 4th position with a Vandenabeele youngster whose parents were obtained from Jutla Brothers of Penge Lofts. Thanks Tom.
John & Gary Hartless and Paul Howard take 1st and 3rd positions at the Pirrie with a youngster bred by Brian Holroyd of Yorkshire followed by a homebred youngster out of Jimmy Hampson stock.
