Lanarkshire News - Thirsk race 6th September 2025

Well for Lanarkshire members we have arrived at the final race of the season from Thirsk in the North Yorkshire around 150 miles back into lower Central, Scotland.

An increase of 60 miles from last week’s race, but with a south wind forecast most had high expectations of a decent race.

Saturday morning arrived and the morning moved on with no word about a liberation time, then the communication came through that the 1,664 Lanarkshire convoy and 11 other organisations crates were liberated at 11 15am in a light south east wind.

The winner hit its loft at 13 50 pm for a flight of  2 hrs 35 minutes for the147 miles journey for Barclay McCrindle ,Son & Donnachie.

Their blue hen managed a velocity of 1671ypm taking 1st sect,1st Open federation for the ultra-successful partnership who also claim the federation Young Bird Averages .

They had a fabulous team performance with 9 pigeons in the top 17 of the Open result.

Barclay had stopped 18 of his team from the week and was very happy with this week’s performance.

The partnership have been at the top of the results every week and always in contention for 1st Open federation.

They have topped the Centre section every week of the 6 weeks young bird programme.

Outstanding flying with the partnership also recording 2 x 1st Open federation this YB season.

Well done to the partnership on a magical season!

Hopefully get over soon for another loft report on this year’s Average winners.

Returns were a pit patchy at clocks, but what's new when racing YBs in a south east wind ,probable hit the Scottish Highlands before realising where they were.
