Lanarkshire Federation-Wooler 3

This week we are back at Wooler in Northumberland, North East of England around 78 miles back to this week’s winner.

This week’s weather again was rather hot and humid and with such conditions comes unpredictability. 

Mix in an East wind and low cloud, you have a difficult weather pattern.

The right decision was made to hold them till late morning and the convoy of 3,360 birds and 13 other crates were away at 11am in a  light North East wind.

The winners started hitting the traps at 1 hr 39 minutes, timing three together on a velocity  of 1376,1374,1372 for 1st,2nd,3rd Open federation for the brilliant Paul Macaloney in the North section of the federation.

This is Pauls second 1st Open in three races after the record breaking  Wooler 1 result.

This week he has 23 from his 32 birds sent in top 100 positions in the federation. Absolute class!

The birds were high this week so little issues with trapping for Paul but first over the pad was a mealy w/f hen direct from Mealy Rider G/son of Blizzard bred by Yannick and the mother is a hen called Rosalie. This was purchased from Tom Burkills sale. The Flanders lines.

 Macaloney ,racing at its best!

Again there was terrific team performances from Barclay McCrindle ,Son & Donnachie who dominated their Centre section winning the first eleven. 

James Green & Son were back at their best winning 1st,2nd,3rd,4th ,5th 7th,8th,9th West section.

Young & Kelly continue up with the winners with another club win and 15th Open federation.

The race was a great success with birds homing in great order. Well done to new race controller Robert Clark who stepped into the role as Callum McMillan stepped down.

Thanks to Callum McMillan for his dedication over the last few seasons.
