Back to the present and the Lanarkshire Social Circle is still seen as one of the Premier clubs in Scotland! A club not just based on distance racing, but also meeting the needs of federation racing programme, with races from the Lanarkshire Federation and then into the Scottish National Flying Club race programme.
This time of the year is a chance to get suited and booted with your club ties and congratulate the winners as well as enjoying a night of everything pigeons.
It’s very competitive club and you have to be on the top of your game to win!
The ultimate trophy to win is the LSC Gold Cup, which is the "Holy Grail" of awards that everyone wants to win. A very prestigious cup that isn't won each year because of the level of difficulty!
Unfortunately it wasn't won this season.
The presentation was held in the Cambusnethan Miners Welfare club, a lovely venue with years of experience hosting such events.
The guests were Davie Jamieson of Bathgate and Tam Richardson of Bonkle near Newmains.
Davie is an outstanding distance fancier who has a brilliant record at National level.
Tam is a top all round racer with success at Club, Federation and National level.
Davie was 2nd Open SNFC Blue Ribbon race in 2025 and also bred the winner of the longest race over 600 miles in the SNFC in 2025, with decades of top results, winning many with his top bloodlines, including John Ellis of Wellbank.
Tam has had a terrific season, winning the section in SNFC Reading and the longest race of the SNFC and never out of the top of the Lanarkshire Average leader board, with bloodlines out of Mr & Mrs Geoff Cooper of Peasedown, St John.
Both done a "Sterling job" of answering questions from the members and guests from the floor.
Thanks to both of them for their time and best wishes on their continued success. Also thanks to club Secretary Gary Gilfillan and President Rab Cairns for their organisation and service to the club, without them we wouldn't be here. John Hood organised the sports quiz between the panel question and answer sessions, thanks John it was a great success!
Everyone enjoyed the lovely food provided and the pigeon night that followed.
