BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.

Phil Whetton of Stretton wins season finale out of Hullavington.

Saturday September 13th saw the final race of the 2025 season, in what can only be called a poor young bird season in terms of birdage.

Once again the youngsters had decent weather and a helping wind, this season we have been blessed with some good weather on race days. The original programme should have seen us at Weymouth, but because of lack of support and birdage the federation dropped short and raced from Hullavington, the fed cannot keep losing money; and decisions like this have to be made?

23 Members from 5 clubs sent 330 birds which were liberated at 09-35 by Alys in a SW wind and they romped home.

Congratulations to Phil Whetton of Stretton on taking 1st fed on 1897 with a cheq Vandenabeele hen, her sire is Phil’s good cock “93”, and both sire and dam originate from stock from Steve Bennett of Bristol. Her nest mate won out of Yeovil the week previous, well done Phil.
