BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.

Mark Nesbitt wins 1-2-3 fed out of Yeovil, with “Ada” taking joint 1st Fed.

Saturday May 16th saw 63 members from 8 clubs enter 1207 birds for the race from Yeovil.

Alys cut the strings and liberated our birds at 09-55 in light WSW wind. The early morning blue skies and sunshine didn’t last too long and here in Burton it clouded over, there was hardly a breath of wind and it went quite cold. What was noticeable was how still it was, with very little signs of wild bird activity. Some of the later arrivals came through some rain, but the early birds were dry.

I expected the leaders to crack the 1700 ypm mark, but this didn’t materialise, I think the lack of wind and cool temperatures didn’t help the birds at all. We expected the East side Lofts to take some beating; and they did have the majority of birds in the top 20, but 3 excellent birds to the Rugeley loft of Mark Nesbitt topped the entry; at the end of the day returns were very good.

Congratulations to Mark Nesbitt of Hill Ridware, Mark took the top three in the fed on 1644.061(2); 1642; two hens went over the pad together to take joint 1st fed.
