BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.
Mark Nesbitt goes seven up out of Frome (1).
I, like many, was looking at the forecast for the weekend of May 9th and 10th, and at the start of the week prospects looked bleak for a race at all. As the week went on the forecast improved and we ended up with a dry weekend, and on the Saturday we were greeted with warm sunshine; blue skies and a light ENE wind, it was lovely waiting for the birds and they seemed to enjoy the warmth too, as we had an excellent race.
Alys liberated 1203 birds from 63 members of 8 clubs at 09-40 in a light ENE wind, and as expected the Rugeley lofts of Hill Ridware dominated the result; they seem to have a love affair with the Frome race point?
Mark Nesbitt had a fantastic race taking the top seven positions in the fed; and a total of 15 in the fed top 20; not bad when only sending 24? Mark’s fed topper on 1514 was the remarkable 2yo dark hen “Ada”; her sire is off the Leo Hereman cock “Tommy” and her dam is a granddaughter of Adam Wealthall’s champion Lambrecht “Snowball”. Ada is a winner of 1st club. 1st fed 1403 birds. 1st club 1st fed 1148 birds; 1st club 1st fed 1065 birds; 3rd club 3rd fed 1247 birds beaten by 2 loft mates. 1st Weymouth SR 111 birds all in our fed. Add to this 6th open MCC Sennen Cove 246 miles and ADA was 3rd open Pinnacle British Isles Ace Awards in 2025, add to that list this years performances so far; 1st club, 10th fed 1388 birds; and now 1st club, 1st fed birds.
