BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.
Davis, Wright & Sons take top six in a far from straight forward race out of Stow on the Wold.
Saturday August 3rd saw our youngsters at the second race out of Stow in the Wold in Gloucestershire. After a cloudy and dull start to the day, the skies quickly lightened and it turned out another near perfect day weather wise for our young birds. The 1409 birds entered by 53 members were liberated by Alys at 11-05 in a west wind.
The leading birds made the expected ETA; but again there were a lot of birds that made hard work of it, they were coming all day. Some of the later birds were coming both out of the south and the north? There were a lot of birds on the transporter having their first race, and I would hazard a guess returns were probably around the 80-85% mark at the end of the day? In my club at Stretton, we sent 115 and had around 20 missing at nightfall, but I also heard of great returns on the day such as 38/39.
As expected the east side of the fed dominated the result, the light west wind wasn’t so much a factor, but they certainly had the drag this week, with good sends at Swadlincote; Osmaston Park and Holbrook.
Congratulations to the Hartshorne lofts of Davis, Wright & Sons flying at Swadlincote Town, they take the top six in the fed on 1460.9; 1460.3; 1459; 1458.9 (2); 1458.2 .
