BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.
Kev Matthews of Holbrook takes top spot out of Salisbury (2).
Saturday June 28th saw 44 members from 7 clubs send 695 birds to Salisbury (2), once the early morning cloud lifted it turned out into a lovely racing day, only slightly spoiled by the blustery West South West wind which had been a feature of the weather in the days leading up to the race. We wondered if the birds would make the mile a minute mark as the wind seemed to go more westerly as the day went on, but the leaders weren’t far off; with a kit of 6 leading the way home.
Congratulations to Kev Matthews of Holbrook up at the top end of the fed, Kev was 1st; 5th; and 6th fed on 1746; 1741.2(2); with his Jos Cools. Kev Matthews with his Salisbury Fed topper & Kev Matthews No 1 Jos Cools stock pair
Kev has decided it’s time to spend more quality time with the family so from 2026 he is going to concentrate on YB racing only. This means that there’s a great opportunity for the fancy to obtain some top Jos Cools and also some F & J Vandenaheede as Kev is selling his Old Bird race team on Elimar in the near future, and will then be selling his Young Bird racers at the end of the season. These are the best of the Jos Cools, with recent additions from friend Andrew Wilton of Chadwell St Mary’s in Essex who have the largest stock team of direct Jos Cools in the UK.
