The Fifth Race of the 2025 season for the Wrexham Federation saw the birds released at 10:10am on Saturday 17th May from Wincanton in a Light Northeast wind.

5 mins 47 seconds covered the first 40 birds in the fed. I always like to look at number of yearlings on fed sheet and there was 8 of the 40 this week, the Northeast wind influenced this number.
Well done on topping the Fed for the second time this year to Phil and Neil Bates, Phil isn’t too well currently, so I hope this win helps his recovery. Get well soon.
Bagillt HS saw the Chip Shop Boys Phil and Neil Bates taking 1st, 2nd, and 4th club positions. There first bird is a 2-year-old blue hen who last year won 4 x 1st clubs and in the fed was very consistent scoring 26th (1380 birds), 35th (1286 birds), 40th (1451 birds), 4th (1212 birds), 40th (1089 birds), 15th (1008 birds) and 8th (833 birds). Already this year she has scored 4th (1547 birds) in the fed, I have included a photo of her which Neil kindly supplied. Second club is three-year-old Blue Hen who last year in the Fed was 17th (1451 birds) and this year 8th (1334 birds). Attached is a photo of the ‘NEHU Hen.’ Fourth club is a yearling Blue Cock that was 1st Fed (1334 birds) at the opening race and this year 20th Fed (1583 bird), and last year in fed was 2nd (882 birds) and 22nd (874 birds), I have also included a photo of this cock called the ’27 Cock’. He is a brother to the Winner. In third club is Gareth Jones timing a three-year-old roundabout hen, she is an Alex Docx x Pitbull. Last year in the fed she was 39th (1380 birds), 3rd (1212 birds) and 14th (833 birds). As a yearling she won the North Wales Championship Club when also getting 5th Fed.

Phil and Neil Bates '41 Hen' 1st Fed Wincanton 1456 Birds, Phil and Neil Bates 'NEHU Hen' 2nd Fed Wincanton 1456 Birds & Phil and Neil Bates '27 Cock' 1st Fed Hereford 1334 Birds.
Horse And Jockey saw Steve Williams winning with a 2-year-old hen. She is a Verkerk x Van Den Bulck. Last year in the Fed she scored 11th (1380 birds) and 10th (318 birds). This year in the fed she has scored 18th (1547 birds). Second and third club is J, I & C. Millward. John and Charlie timed a 2-year-old blue pied roundabout hen. She has won many prizes before, up to Guernsey. She is a Van Den Bulck x Lambrecht. Her father is the sire of the partnerships best old cocks. Third club is a yearling smoky blue roundabout hen. Geveart Cross x Van Den Bulck. Her father won many top positions in the Wrexham Fed and was 35th open in the MNFC. So far this year in the fed this hen has scored 33rd (1547 birds), 27th (1583 birds) and 36th (1495 birds). In fourth club is P&T. Reece timing a 2-year-old blue widowhood cock. Bred from there Chester 2 bird winner which is a Gary Inkley (Syndicate Lofts) x Adams Brothers. The bird in 4th was 11th Fed as a YB. Last year in the fed he was 22nd (1456 birds) and 29th (859 birds).
Brymbo HS saw Steve Jones taking the top 1st, 3rd, and 4th positions. The winner is a 4-year-old Lambrecht x Leo Hermans, last year this bird took 21st (1089 birds) and 5th (659 birds) in the fed. This year he won the open race also scoring 12th (1334 birds) in the Fed. Steve’s second times is a 4-year-old Leo Herman x Lambrecht. Last year in the Fed this bird scored 19th (1286 birds), 5th (1089 birds) and 32nd (833 birds). In third club is a 3-year-old Leo Hermans, last year in the fed this bird scored 4th (1380 birds), 21st (1008 birds) and 36th (859 birds). This year scored 22nd (1334 birds). Second club is Lloyd & Bagnall, Keith and Steve timed a 2-year-old blue Van Den Bulck cock from Jones and Hallam stock.
Llay HS saw CW Marsh winning with a 4-year-old hen. Last year in the fed she scored 37th (859 birds) and 21st (659 birds). In 2nd and 4th club is Shaun and Barry Cooke. The first bird is a 2-year-old Syndicate lofts hen. Last year in fed she scored 5th (1212 birds), 12th (1008 birds), 23rd (859 birds) and 23rd (833 birds). There second bird is a 2-year-old Lambrecht hen. Last year in the fed she scored 12th (1286 birds) and 14th (1212 birds). Third club is G&G Williams and Son timing a 2-year-old roundabout hen bred by Hale, Langa & Roberts, Cefn.
Ellesmere HS saw Andrew Lawley taking the top 4 positions. The winner is a 3-year-old blue cock, a Gabby x Galaxy that last year took following club positions 1st (101 birds),1st (56 birds) and 2nd (78 birds) also 27th (859 birds) in the Fed. In the 5 races this year he has had 2x2nd (BBLM), 3rd , 4th (BBLM) and now the win. In second club is a yearling blue cock taking his first card the sire is a G/Son of Steve Windsors ‘42’ cock x Macaloney Ceusters x Gaby. Third club is last week’s winner, a yearling blue hen. Both parents bred by Owen and Joesbury. The sire David Peeters x Hurricane Blood x Thys Blood and Dam Victor De Belser. In fourth club is a yearling Grizzle Cock, the Sire is a son of Owen and Joesbury’s fantastic bird Hurricane when paired to a Galaxy Lofts hen. This cock this year scored 1st, 2nd (BBLM) and now 2x4th (BBLM) clubs. This week was also our clubs first club 2 bird and we were flying for £140 for 4 prizes due in main to kind sponsorship from Andrew and Alan. Andrew took the top 2 positions winning a total of £105, 3rd was P & A. Howell, Hoot winning £21 and 4th was Wayne Jones winning £14.
Wrexham and District HS saw Steve Burgess taking the first three positions. The winner is a yearling cock who was 2nd Hullavington as a YB. He is a Ceusters x Janssen bred in the stock loft. Second club is a 2-year-old Lambrecht Widowhood Cock, Winner in the past of 1x1st, 6x2nd, 1x3rd and a 5th last year this bird took following fed positions 10th (1212 birds), 6th (859 birds), 17th(833 birds), 17th (659 birds) and 31st (360 birds) and this year 13th (1547 birds). Third club is a yearling widowhood cock. A Ceusters x Janssen and a full brother to the winner. Fourth club is M&J Thomas timing a yearling that was 4th club the week before, last year he was 30th (1464 birds).
Cefn Mawr HS saw Richards & Jones winning with a yearling. Second club is Talent & Westbury; Martin timed a 2-year-old cock having only his second race of the year. He is a Stickers Donkers. In third and fourth club is Gary Williams. First bird of Gert Heylen bloodlines from Stock from Joe McGough of Lancaster. The timer is a two-year-old Blue Pied Hen who is off a brother to the winner from Hereford (2) who was also 6th Fed (1547 birds), last year in the fed this bird was 14th (1008 birds) this year 38th (1547 birds), 3rd (1583 birds) and 20th (1495 birds) . Her sire won Bala Club from Blandford also topping the Shropshire Fed (1184 birds). In fourth club is a yearling hen, again from Gary’s Gert Heylen’s. Last year in the fed she was 8th (874 birds) and 27th (1096 birds).
Rhyl saw D L & E. Jones winning. Second club Steve Beardmore and third club. Brian Jones
Leeswood saw C & G. Roberts take 1st, 3rd, and 4th positions. The winner is a Red Hen off the late Tec Woodward. Has won before and taken other prizes. The bird in third club is a Cheq Hen bred out of John the Farm Stock, has prized before. Fourth club is a Blue Pied Cock off Ivor Jones. Has won before and taken other prizes. In second club is Lloyd Westbury and his young sons Ted and Arthur. They timed a 2-year-old blue hen. Out of his Laurent Rocket Family. This family is from Lloyd’s good friend Steve from Belgium. Her sire won 5x1st with over 3500 birds competing for Steve before coming to them. The Dam also from Steve out of his Nat Ace LCB Winners. Included is a photo of Lloyd and Ted. Arthur was too busy for a photo as he is getting the birds primed for the next race.

In my own loft
As I wrote before I never bred any young birds. Two Fanciers have come to my rescue. Clubmate Andrew Lawley bred me a cracking team of young birds, thank you so much Andrew. The other fancier is Richard Gould who bred me a lovely kit of young birds, what an amazing area he lives in Snowdonia but no good to race the pigeons too. Thank you both, I hope I can do you proud with some performances.
