Sorry for the delay on this write up, I have been away on a much-needed family holiday to Turkey, first time we visited there and enjoyed it all. Thank you to my mum for taking on the role of looking after the pigeons and pets while we were away.

The seventh race for the Wrexham Federation should have been from Brighton, but the weather was unfavourable on the Saturday forcing a holdover. Then on Sunday it was still not suitable, the birds were brought back to Hullavington and released 12:30pm on 1st June into a West South West Wind.

(45/769 birds), 1st C.W.Marsh, Llay 1520, 2nd D.Jones, Llay 1520, 3rd and 4th G.Jones, Bagillt 1520 and 1515, 5th, 6th and 8th P.Bates & Son, Bagillt 1515, 1509 and 1508, 7th G.Williams, Cefn 1508, 9th T.Elson & Dtr, Horse & Jockey 1507, 10th P.Hughes, Bagillt 1506.

5 mins and 47 seconds covered the first 40 birds in the fed. There were 16 yearlings of the 40 this week.

Well done Wilf Marsh of Llay on topping the Fed. The sixth different loft to top the fed this year from the 7 races.

Llay HS saw Wilf Marsh win with a 2-year-old roundabout hen who was 4th club last week when she also took 23rd (851birds) in the Fed, last year in the fed scored 29th (833 birds). In Second and Third is Derrick Jones timing two yearling Widowhood cocks. The first scored 9th (281birds) in the fed last year. The second was 4th club in the first race this year when also took 39th (1334 birds) in the fed. Last year scored 35th (882 birds) in the Fed. Fourth club G&G Williams and Son timing a 5-year-old Herman Ceusters Roundabout Hen. Last year in the fed she scored 14th (1286 birds), 2nd (1212 birds), 36th (1008 birds), 12th (201 birds) and 22nd (360 birds).

Bagillt HS saw Gareth Jones taking the win, timing a 2-year-old cheq Van Den Bulck hen, last year in the fed she scored 4th (1456 birds). In Second and third club are Chip Shop Boys Phil and Neil Bates. There first is a 2-year-old cheq hen that this year has taken 4th (1456 birds) in the fed. There second bird is a 2-year-old Blue White Flight Hen that last year scored 31st (1089 birds) in the fed. In fourth club is Peter Hughes timing a 2-year-old blue hen. Last year this hen took following in the fed 4th (1089 birds), 12th (859 birds) and 21st (833 birds). This year she was 4th club Hullavington and taken 36th (1547 birds) and 32nd (1495 birds) in the fed.

Cefn Mawr HS saw Gary Williams winning with a yearling hen from Gary’s Gert Heylen bloodlines from Stock from Joe McGough of Lancaster. She has previously won 2x2nds, 1x4th and 2x5th clubs. Last year in the fed she was 8th (874 birds) and 27th (1096 birds). Her nestmate topped the Fed. In second club is Mr and Mrs Tommy Baker and Son Richie timing a 2-year-old Grizzle Cock that has previously won 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Club. This year in the fed scored 39th (1547 birds). The sire topped the fed. Well done on also taking 1st and 2nd in Ruabon club. Third club Hale, Langa & Roberts timing a yearling. Fourth club Talent & Westbury, Martin timed a yearling.

Horse And Jockey saw T. Elson and Daughter taking the win and fourth position. The winner is a 4-year-old Staf Van Reet from stock from Mr and Mrs Tommy Baker and Son Richie. There second timer is a yearling roundabout hen. Second club Mr & Mrs BW Jones & Son timing 2-year-old Roundabout hen, she is from Macaloney stock. In third club is P&T. Reece timing a 2-year-old cheq white flight Widowhood cock. He is an Adams Brothers x Syndicate Lofts. Last year in the fed scored 28th (1286 birds), 18th (1008 birds) and 19th (859 birds). This year in fed 29th (1547 birds).

Brymbo HS saw Steve Jones taking the top 4 positions. First in the clock 3-year-old Leo Hermans Blue Cock. Last year in the fed took 4th (1380 birds), 21st (1008 birds) and 36th (859 birds). This year taken 3rd and 4th club and 22nd (1334 birds) and 32nd (1456 birds) in fed. Second club is a yearling blue hen. She is a Van Den Bulck x Leo Hermans, same Dam as the winner. Last year in fed she scored 18th (281 birds). In third club is a 3-year-old blue cock. He is a Leo Hermans x Van Den Bulck. Last year in the fed this cock scored 37th (1380 birds), 7th (1212 birds), 6th (1089 birds), 13th (1008 birds), 17th (859 birds) and 5th (833 birds). Also won the Championship club. This year he has scored 2nd club last week and 6th (851 birds) in the fed. In fourth club is a yearling cheq hen. In the fed last year, she scored 26th (882 birds). She was 3rd in the Breeder Buyer winning £600 and scored 7th in the open race both from Brighton.

Wrexham and District HS saw M&J Thomas taking 1st, 2nd and 4th club. Mike’s winner is a yearling cheq Widowhood cock, bred by Dareen Roberts. Last year in fed scored 39th (874 birds) and this year 33rd (851birds). Second club a 4-year-old cheq Widowhood Cock, a Ceusters. Last year in the fed scored 13th (318 birds). In fourth club a yearling who last year was 39th (1464 birds) in the fed and this year 34th (1583 birds). In third club Steve Burgess timing a 2-year-old Widowhood cock bred by Shaun and Barry Cooke, last year in the fed this cock scored 8th (1212 birds), 26th (859 birds), 40th (833 birds) and 2nd (360 birds). This cock has now won 2x1st, 2x2nd, 1x3rd, 3x4th in club plus a 11th fed on top of fed results previously mentioned. Last week was 2nd club 5th (851 birds) in fed.

Ellesmere HS saw Andrew Lawley taking the top 4 positions. The winner is a 3-year-old cheq cock 75% Gaby of Shadow bloodlines and 25% Galaxy Van Loon. In second club is a brother to the winner again another 3-year-old cheq cock. Third club is a 3-year-old blue hen, she is of Gaby bloodline. She scored 3rd club last year. Fourth club a yearling blue hen, sire bred by Owen and Joesbury x Dam Gabby.

Leeswood saw C & G Roberts take 1st and 3rd positions. The winner is a White hen yearling off Lotty Bros that was 2nd Club Hereford. The second bird 2-year-old cheq hen. Bred by John the Farm. Has prized many times before. In 2nd and 4th club R T & K Hughes, Ray, and Tim’s first bird 2-year-old cheq hen. Dam out of our Sheader Soonjtens stock. Winner of 5x1sts and other prizes. Fourth club 3-year-old Dark Hen. Prized before. Busschaert family x Alan & Martin Crawly stock

The North Wales Championship Club held there first race from Weymouth last week. Well done Derrick Jones on winning this taking £109, 2nd Steve Jones taking £71, 3rd Steve Burgess taking £50, 4th Lloyd and Bagnall taking £29 and 5th Mr & Mrs BW Jones & Son taking £8. A great duplication club this.

National Flying Club

There were some notable performances in the National Flying Club from Fougeres. These are provisional positions taken in Section W.

1st Derrick Jones, provisionally 45th open. 2nd Lloyd and Bagnall, provisionally 67th open, 3rd J, I & C. Millward, provisionally 94th open, 4th Gary Williams, 5th W. Hollins & Son, 10th MP Jones & Grandsons, 11th Gwyn Jones, 12th D L & E. Jones, 13th Stephen Beardmore. Well done all in a wind that didn’t favour the area.

Welsh South East National

Also well done to Lloyd, Ted, and Arthur Westbury on getting 4th North section from Maidstone, I have included a photo. I imagine Arthur hasn’t time for photos as getting birds ready for next race.
