Dave Matthews, Wrexham Fed Conveyor
I’ve included a photo of Dave on his duties. Dave finished at the end of the 2024 season. But came to the fed’s rescue after race 2 and has performed the duties during the old bird season. Thank you, Dave it really is appreciated. I believe he will be the reserve driver for the young bird season. Though his wife has a lengthy list of chores he hasn’t got around to this year so he might be wanting to come back sooner. Joking aside thank you Mrs Matthew’s for ‘lending’ us Dave to help us this year.

Chester 2 bird – Purbeck
This club is and has been one of most prestigious clubs in the local area for many years. Good to see some initiative-taking ideas coming from the new management team with new marking stations to make it easier to compete. I’m sure these ideas will see this club grow over the next couple of years.
They raced from Purbeck on Saturday 5th July for what was there second race of the season.
Though only a provisional result currently it was some excitement for Ellesmere Club especially Andrew Lawley who timed both birds within 6 seconds. Looking good for 1st and 2nd. I have included a photo of Andrew holding both his timers.
The provisional winner is a yearling blue pied roundabout hen. She has won 1x1st and 2x3rd in the club this year. Also getting 22nd (1456 birds) and 24th (867 birds) in the fed. Both parents bred by Owen and Joesbury. The sire David Peeters x Hurricane Blood x Thys Blood and Dam Victor De Belser. I’ve included a photo of her with her mate (who won the club this week) and Andrew holding her along with my daughter Eliza (I hope Eliza was booking a 2026 yb from her!).
Provisionally second Chester 2 Bird is a 3-year-old blue roundabout cock, the sire is one of Alan Shinton’s ‘Max’ Birds x Galaxy. This bird won last year and took 34th (360 birds) in fed. He has also won in Bala club a few times. This year he has taken a 1st and 4th club and 13th (971 birds) in fed. He also scored 3rd Gobowen 2 bird Ramsgate. I have included a photo.
Huge congratulations Andrew, it couldn’t happen to a nicer person.
