Lanarkshire News - Alnwick race, Friday 8th May
This week we arrive at Alnwick, Northumberland on the North East of England. This is 86 miles back to this week’s winner into Lanarkshire, lower Central Scotland.
The weather forecast had been unpredictable throughout the week so the race controller decided to go for a Friday race. This proved to be an excellent decision with the birds getting a great flight with many fanciers reporting full returns.
The convoy was liberated at 0700hrs in a light south wind ,the winning bird took 1 hr 49 minutes to record a velocity of 1394ypm.This is a very special pigeon owned by Barclay McCrindle & Son, this being her second 1st Open federation win in just six races of her short career.

An absolute racing machine this yearling blue hen!
This hen is out of two direct Jan Hooyman stock pigeons, Sire is a direct son of Harry x direct daughter of Harry Junior. A full brother of this week’s winner also won 1st Open Lanarkshire federation 2023 whilst another brother won 2 x 1st UK Thailand Masters 2023.
This was Barclays first race of the season and they have managed 3 x 1st Open federations in four races. This is outstanding racing at any level and is up with the best in racing.
Well done to the partnership on an unbelievable result in their first race and also taking seven of the top fifteen positions in their section..
Paul Macaloney returned an outstanding result taking 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th,8th,9th,10th,11th,12th,13th,14th Open federation. Paul was on holiday and left Charlene in charge, what can we say Paul I think she has the magic touch!
