Hello Folks,

North Liverpool Federations eleventh old bird race was flow on Saturday 24th June 2023 from Weymouth in conjunction with the North West Combine. The strings were cut at 9.30am and the convoy of 1227 birds headed north for home in a South West wind. Once more, another good race was had with the leading pigeons recording velocities of high 1600’s and most reporting good returns.

Ste & Pat Moffit continue their impressive run over at the Edge Hill HS (5/65) were they finish 1st & 3rd. Their winner this week is a yearling blue wf roundabout cock which was 4th club last week from Weymouth and carded well earlier in the season as well as placing in the fed results. He was bred via stock from Kenny Donald – Roby FC. Ste & Pat’s next timer is another yearling blue cock once again raced on the roundabout. This cock has had a very impressive season having won 3x1st clubs inc 2nd & 4th fed. He is a grandson of Daniel & Ray Scotton’s RPRA Award Winner. Runner up this week and also taking 4th sport is the father and son partnership, Daniel & Ray Scotton, clocking two yearling blue cocks, the first of which was bred by J&J Campbell – Kirby FC whilst the second was bred by John Mowbray – North East. Well Done all!

An excellent race was had by Mr & Mrs Muirhead & Son, Connor over at the Kirkdale WMHS (5/81) were they clocked three pigeons to take 1st, 3rd & 4th. First in was ‘The Rat’, the ever-consistent hen who continues to write her impressive CV. She is a previous winner of 2x1st, 1x2nd & 1x4th clubs as well as 1st Liverpool 2Bird, 1st North West Combine and was awarded North Liverpool Fed Bird of the Year 2022, CLASS! Next in the clock is a son of ‘The Rat’, he is a very consistent racer and is a previous first prize winner including 7th, 11th, 19th & 23rd Fed. Finally, the partnership clocked a pigeon bred by Alan Halsall from his North West Combine winner when paired into their own ‘Blue Leo Hen’. Johnson Bros & Pattison take a respectable 2nd club clocking a hen which won from Weymouth last season. Her sire was gifted to them by Terry Rigney – Winsford whilst her dam was bred by Steve Foster.

Chris Jones makes it four wins on the bounce over at the Garston HS (8/135). This week’s winner is a Mealy Sion cock taking his tally to four first prizes. He was bred by ex Childwall FC member, Lee Connor. Next in is Alan Jones clocking a home bred grizzle hen from his own family lines to take 2nd spot. She was sent to the race sitting 12 days and was never raced as a youngster, only trained from Frodsham. 3rd club goes to Ron & Kieran Pendleton clocking a hen bred by J&J Campbell – Kirkby, she’s been a consistent pigeon all season and has been unlucky to have not been in the prizes previously. 4th club – Dave Cain – No Details. This week’s pool and nom monies were won by Chris Jones.

Over at the Central FC (10/167) the prizes were shared this week with John Farley bagging the win, clocking a 2 year old widowhood cock through his Heinz 57 family. This cock was well fancied winning the club and marking stations single nom. Runner up see’s John Rimmer with a 2 year old widowhood cock bred by McCardle & Archbold. This cock is a previous winner as well as multiple minor cards. Mark, Daniel & Conor Pearson take 3rd spot with a 2 year old cheq pied hen bred by Jimmy Roberts from his Liverpool Amal winner. 4th club goes to Tony Hawkins with a 4 year old cheq widowhood cock via Andy Gregson’s Gevearts. This cock is one of the brothers which have raced brilliant for Tony as well as breeding the goods. This week’s money winners are John Farley - £40, John Rimmer - £30 and Tony Hawkins - £20.

Team Heague bag their eighth win of the campaign over at the Princes Park HS (8/149) supported by an admirable 3rd & 4th positions too. Their winner this week is a 2 year old blue widowhood cock, a previous winner this season from Frome and he is one of four brothers in the race team which have all won. He is son of ‘Box 16’ who is now retired as a very good racer and breeder when paired to a cheq hen, a winner of the Liverpool Two Bird. Next in the clock for John & Danny is a yearling blue widowhood cock which is a gift pigeon from Lee Maguire which has taken multiple other cards this season, followed by a two year old blue pied widowhood cock bred by Frank Bristow and is again a very consistent racer having taken plenty of cards. Runner up this week was J Devine & Son clocking a two year old blue hen bred via his own birds. She has been a consistent racer having scored last year as well as this. Well Done all.

Over at the Vauxhall HS (6/112) J McDowell & Son had a fantastic race clocking a trio of pigeon’s to take the top three positions. First up is a yearling mealy cock bred by Paul Jowett – Durham. His sire has bred plenty of winners and he is a grandson of Van Den Bulk’s ‘Goede Rode’ whilst the dam is a full sister to ‘Expensive Trigger’ 1st UNC. Next was a yearling blue cock purchased from the Liverpool Two Bird sale bred by Jimmy Smith – Kirkby. His sire is Leo Heremans and the dam is a granddaughter of Leech Bros’ Syndicate cock. Finally it was another yearling mealy cock who’s nestmate was 2nd club, 9th fed, 16th combine last week. Both parents are bred by club mates Rees Bros & Caples with the sire being a Stefan Lambrecht x Van Den Bulk and the dam a Van Den Bulk. All three of these pigeons were unraced as youngsters. Well Done Franny.  4th club Williams & Murphy – No Details.

Over at the Litherland HS (6/116) E Davin & Son clock two pigeons to take 1st & 3rd club. This week’s winner is a yearling hen bred from a son of ‘Big Kev’ and ‘606’ bred by Kevin Moran. The dam is through Steve Goulding’s Van Loon’s crossed with the Walter Docx family which has bred loads of winners. In 3rd place is the super hen ‘Mila’ a winner of 4x1st clubs plus a federation win and she is one of the best hens the partnership has ever had. Her sire is bred by Jimmy & Ian Fleming – Ireland, whilst the dam was bred by club mates Lloyd, Moran & Healey. Again, this cross are also parents to lots of winners. Lloyd & Healey are this week’s runners up with a yearling hen which won as a youngster. She’s a half-sister to last week’s federation winner ‘Gary’s Gift’. Sire is a grandson of ‘Olympiad 003” & ‘Di Caprio’ the dam is a granddaughter of ‘Man O Chester’, ‘Dark Delilah’ & ‘Jan Olly’ who is dam to a North West Combine winner. 4th spot see’s Joe Pearman with a pigeon who has had previous form taking 15th, 22nd & 28th fed. The sire to this pigeon was again bred by Lloyd & Healey and is a grandson of two old pairs who are proven breeders. Old Lambrecht’s & Williem pair, Dam is bred by GWP Macaloney.

McCardle, Archbold & Maguire take 1st & 2nd in the Netherton HS (7/151). Their winner is a 3 year old Walter Docx x Mandelaertz widowhood hen which is a winner of many club and federation prizes followed by a 2 year old Mandelaerts cock which is a previous winner and is bred from two federation winners. Brian Halsall takes 3rd spot with ‘52’ a very consistent racer which was 84th combine last week. Her sire is ‘Pencil Emalia’ who is sire of 14th combine two weeks ago. Dam is sister to one of our top racers as well as Bird of the Year 2021 bred the same way as our double RPRA Meritorious Award winner. John Nixon finishes 4th with a pigeon from Paul Beaumont x Ste Goulding blood. Both parents retired to stock last year which are becoming a “Boss Pair” breeding two winners this season. This cock was 3rd club, 8th fed this season whilst his nest mate is a winner as well as being 3rd St Helens 3 Bird club a couple of weeks ago. Well Done All!

Eddie Naylor & Son have another fantastic race in the Bootle FC (7/104) taking all four positions as well as this week’s £30 nom. Their first arrival takes its second red card this season and is bred by Steve Coulter – Newcastle. Next was ‘09’ a top pigeon for the lads who’s dam was bred by Alan Halsall. In 3rd was a pigeon bred by Frank Bristow and was a winner in 2022 and taking 5th Federation. Finally, they clocked ‘19’ again bred by Steve Coulter.

Our final call this week is the Pirrie FC (8/147) where Fulton & Lee clock this week’s provisional federation winner, their second of the season, and to make it better, this week’s winner is the nest sister to their fed winner from Yeovil this season. Both pigeons were bred by Tommy Hibbs and the lads would like to thank him for all his help and advice. The lads also took 3rd spot this week with ‘08’ who’s nestmate won Yeovil two weeks ago and once again bred by Tommy. Joe Elder & Son claim 2nd and 4th positions, their first timer is an Alex Docx x Alwin Petrie followed by a Pitbull x Alex Docx. Well done all!
