North Liverpool Federation

Hello Folks, hope all is well, I’m feeling refreshed after a nice family break in Turkey so this week I didn’t participate in the race from Hereford, however, that didn’t stop me from gaining enjoyment from the race, seeing the winners from each club come in whilst sat on the beach soaking up the sun with a cold beer, even more so when I realised two sets of friends, Team Heague and Dooley Rowan & Chapman had ‘hot ones’ for the fed, I quickly worked their velocities out short hand and had them double checked back home before submitting them into the fed WhatsApp group for the secretaries attention.

Anyway, let’s hear more about the race, again there was a last-minute change to this week’s race point, Monmouth was the original plan, but due to a couple of wagon issues out of the convoyer’s control, Hereford it was.

The convoy arrived on site at 4am with clear skies and 6 degrees and it was time to have a couple of hours rest. The birds were later watered, and liberation took place at 10am. The 2021 birds set of into a west wind, clear blue skies, and temperatures of 16 degrees with a clear line ahead. Upon release the birds split into 3 groups and cleared the site within minutes, race on!

One hour, thirty-nine minutes later and the federation winner was clocked by Team Heague over at the Princes Park HS recording a velocity of 1602 to cover 91 miles. John & Danny also took 3rd & 4th club positions too. Their winner is ‘Box 12’, a 3-year-old cheq cock direct from good friend Frank Bristow. This cock already has a very impressive record having previously won 2nd fed on two separate occasions and was club Bird of the Year 2022 accompanied by an RPRA award for his efforts. Class pigeon! Their second timer, also bred by Frank Bristow is ‘Big Wattles’, a 2 year old cheq cock and is another consistent performer winning many prizes. Three seconds later and their 4th prize winner was clocked, a 2 year old blue pied cock who was also 4th club last week and a multiple card winner in 2022. He is bred through McCardle & Archbold blood when paired to a 2nd North West Combine winning hen for John Heague – Speke. 2nd club this week and runners up in the fed was Dooley, Rowan & Chapman – no details.
