NORTH LIVERPOOL FEDERATION

North Liverpool Federation’s tenth race of the season took place from Weymouth, once more in conjunction with the North West Combine programme. The strings were cut on the convoy at 10.30am on Saturday 17th June into a East wind, once the band of rain had cleared down the line of flight. Although the birds were liberated into such a wind, as the birds travelled up the country it was set to change to southeast which can be seen by the leading pigeons doing sixty miles per hour to record velocities of 1700’s.
Ste & Pat Moffitt continued their impressive form over at the Edge Hill FC (4/58) bagging another three cards to their collection, taking 1st, 3rd and 4th club. The winner is a yearling cheq hen raced on the roundabout and has already been 2nd club this season. She originates from Jimmy Roberts of the Derby FC (Childwall). In third place they clocked another yearling hen, this time a blue which is also raced on the roundabout system. This hen is bred from a very good line of pigeons with two of her brothers being winners with one having 3x1st including a 2nd & 4th fed this season, bred from a child of club mates, Daniel & Ray Scotton’s RPRA Award winner. Runners up this week is Daniel & Ray Scotton with a blue cock bred by J & J Campbell of the Kirby FC. Well Done all.
Over at the Netherton HS (8/128) John Nixon bags another win with a blue cock taking his first card as he didn’t race as a youngster. He is bred via birds from Paul Beaumont and Ste Goulding with both parents being retired to stock two seasons ago. Two siblings have won this season with another two taking cards. McCardle, Archbold & Maguire are runners up this week with ‘125’ a yearling Walter Docx x Manderlartz cock which has shown previous form winning 2nd club 3rd federation as well as 9th fed, 11th North West Combine when the loft was also 1st & 2nd combine, with this cocks nest mate finishing bridesmaid. 3rd & 4th club goes to Brian Halsall, first in the clock is the consistent ‘Latebred 81 hen’, this hen in the last two races has finished 2nd & 8th fed, 6th & 15th Combine. This hens sire is ‘Speckle’ a top son of the good ’79’ when paired to the ‘Black Saturday 746’ who was beaten on the trap for two federation wins, once by his brother. Next bird was ‘56’ who has bagged himself some top ten federation prizes previously. His sire is ‘19’ a direct son of ‘Bullet’ x ‘Rocket’ winners of four RPRA awards between then as well as four federation wins. Well Done All!
Paul Hourihan & John Crowder take the win over at the Pirrie FC (11/188) with a Sticker Donker bred by Gregory Bros – Ireland. This pigeon scored twice as a youngster and was purchased at the Liverpool Central presentation. 2nd place goes to Neil Elder with a 3 year old blue cock via the old Houben lines crossed into De Klak and Vos Janssen lines via his dad and brother, Joe Elder & son who take the next two spots. First in the clock for the two Joe’s is a previous winner of two Liverpool Amal positions. Their next arrival has also shown previous form winning 1st club 3rd fed this campaign to back up his 2nd North West Combine position in 2022.
Chris Jones wins three on the trot in the Garston FC (7/133) this time with a blue pied cock bred by Terry Maclarney out of his Brian Harrison stock. Tom Kehoe is this week’s bridesmaid with a home bred yearling cheq hen out of spitfire and Geerinckxs lines. Alan Jones takes 3rd & 4th down on the Garston Docks with two hens. First up is a home bred 2 year old blue which won a couple of cards as a youngster followed by a yearling blue pied from a swap at the Lancashire Social Circle from Alan Bamford’s family strain.
It didn’t take Team Heague long to revive their winning ways at the Princes Park HS (8/157). Their winning pigeon is a yearling cheq widowhood cock, a son of ‘Box 16’ who is now retired as a very good racer and producer with a cheq hen that won the Liverpool Two Bird Specialist Club. This cock is one of four brothers in the race team that have all won. Miller & Sons finish in 2nd place with a 2 year old Alex Docx cheq wf cock. This cock is a previous winner of 2x2nd clubs plus other minor prizes. He is a son of their number one stock pair, both of which were bred by James Dutton. Sire is a son of ‘Vechter’ whilst the dam a daughter of ‘242’ both being Belgium ace pigeons for Alex and breeders of Fed and Open winners for James & Gary Dutton. Tony O’Brien & Son, Daniel finish 3rd club with a home bred yearling cheq wf hen bred from House of Aarden and Louella pigeons. Back with the brothers now and Team Heague clock a 5 year old cheq cock to finish in 4th. He is a very consistent racer and still earning his perch. Sire is a fed winner whilst the dam is a sister to the ‘Burger’ – RPRA UK Middle Distance champion. Well done John and Danny.

1st Princes Park HS - Team Heague
Terry Hodson takes the win over at the Central FC (9/158) as well as taking 3rd position. Terrys winning bird is a homebred yearling cheq hen which was bred in the stock loft. His next arrival is a blue hen, once again, bred in the stock loft via John Hodgson x Ste Goulding bloodlines. Rees Bros & Caples take 2nd prize this week with the brilliant ‘Irish01’. This hen is a Sticker Donker bred by the Gregory Brothers – Ireland and she has a very tasty CV which includes 2x1st clubs and 4x2nd’s. John Rimmer continues to knock on the door this time finishing in 4th position with a 2 year old mealy cock bred by McCardle & Archbold. This cock has already shown that he has what it takes after winning first club in 2022 as has his nest winning a couple of weeks back. This week’s money winners were Wally Vickers - £40, John Farley - £30 and John Pearson -£20.
Over at the neighbouring club, Vauxhall HS (6/121) Rees Bros & Caples finish in pole position with a yearling blue hen bred by the Gregory Brothers – Ireland. This hen’s nest mate is also a winner earlier in the season. J McDowell & Son are back in the prizes this week with a yearling red cock which was unraced as a youngster. Sire is a Van Den Bulk x Stefan Lambrecht, whilst the dam is also a Van Den Bulk. Both parents bred by club mates, Rees Bros & Caples. Justin & Julie Deary & Barlow take the next two spots, first of their arrivals is a mealy cock which has taken a couple of minor cards as a youngster and was bred by Alan Devlin via his ‘Daddy Cool’ x ‘Vale Greipel’ pair. Next was a cheq cock which has also won minor cards before he is bred from ‘398’ a homebred Heremans Ceusters x Van Den Bulk cock when paired to ‘393’ a home bred cheq hen bred down from John Crehan’s, Jan Hooymans.
This week’s provisional federation winner was clocked at the Litherland HS (5/105) by Freddy Lloyd & Ashley Healey. The winner is a 3 year old blue cock, now knows as ‘Gary’s Gift’ and he is a winner of a handful of minor cards before. His sire is a grandson of ‘Olympiade 003’ and ‘Di Caprio’ whilst the dam is a Staf Boeckmans bred by Mark Derby. Joe Perry takes 2nd position with a Van Loon bred by his good friend Ste Goulding. Next up is Joe Pearman taking 3rd & 4th. Joe’s first timer is a hen bred by Ian Dakin followed by another hen, this time a Van Den Bulk x Leo Hereman which has had 6 top federation positions inc 3rd & 10th as well as a 10th North West Combine two weeks ago.

'Gary's Gift' Provisional Federation winner - Lloyd & Healey
The winning ways continue for Eddie Naylor & Son in the Bootle HS (7/113) were they take the top three positions as well as this weeks nom. First up is a Wildermerch who’s sire and dam were both bred by Frank Bristow. Next in the clock was a pigeon bred by Alan Horton – Telford and finally it was a pigeon carrying there good Walter Docx red hen bloodlines to take 3rd. Taking 4th this week was Mr & Mrs Warren/ D Foat & Son with a Willy Jacob’s round about hen.
The final stop this week is the Kirkdale WMHS (6/103) where Johnson Bros & Pattison add another red card to their collection with a 2 year old hen who’s sire was bred by Terry Rigney and is a breeder of many winners with different hens. The dam is via Roy Reid bloodlines and again is a breeder of many winners. Mr & Mrs Muirhead & Son, Connor, take the next two spots. Their first arrival is bred off the ‘Lennox Cock’ when paired to the ‘Porter Hen’ via Little Legs, John Porter. This cock has had many prizes inc 5th, 17th, 18th, 19th & 32nd Federation. Next up was a multiple prize winner, a son of fed winner when paired to ‘The Rat’ both via Kevin Moran. 4th place – J Jones – No details.
