SOLWAY NEWS

By Jimmy Graham

93/2249. Stainmore (2) was the race point for the Solway Federation on Sunday 14th August. Liberated at 11.30am into a very light South wind, the birds once again made short work of it and covered the fifty-nine miles in just over the hour. There were few losses this week and for many fanciers full returns were reported. The Sunday race was spot on and we thank the race controller Raymond White for his decision to hold-over.

Next week we head for Ripon, a distance of ninety-six miles to most lofts.

Getting back to the race we find the lofts of Mr & Mrs Gus Power & Allen of Springfield out on their own with a velocity of 1274. This is great flying from this loft as they’ve won all four Young Bird races.

The leading ten were as follows:

1st   Mr & Mrs G Power & Allen, Springfield.            Vel 1274

2nd  D Robinson, Lockerbie.                                      Vel 1266

3rd  G Dalgliesh & Son, Hoddam.                               Vel 1265

4th  W F Van Nuil, Springfield.                                 Vel 1264

5th  Mr & Mrs J Graham, Hoddam.                            Vel 1260

6th  Mr & Mrs J Graham, Hoddam.                            Vel 1257

7th  W F Van Nuil, Springfield.                                  Vel 1249

8th  D Graham, Springfield.                                       Vel 1245

9th  D Graham, Springfield.                                       Vel 1244

10th Mr Mrs D Skelton, Springfield.                           Vel 1243
