SOLWAY NEWS

By Jimmy Graham

91/2020. The Solway Federation was down at Ripon on Saturday 20th August. Liberated at 9.00am into a no-wind situation but I’m afraid to say it wasn’t the best of days. I don’t mean the liberation nor the day but the race itself, losses were heavy throughout the Fed and many fanciers are still waiting for fifteen or even twenty birds!

It had to come as the first four races were just like training tosses as birds homed in large batches and it was just a matter of follow the leader. This time from Ripon they had to find their own way home over the ninety-six miles and we all know what happens when they have to think for themselves! You all know the rest…

Federation Results

Topping the Fed this week is I (Mr & Mrs J Graham, Hoddam); I had four of a drop to take 1st, 2nd, 4th and 10th Open on 1309.3, 1309.1, 1306 and 1299.

Second spot went to my brother Dennis Graham (Springfield); he timed to take 3rd Open with a bird bred from stock of Ian Doughty of Stourpork-on-Severn.
