The Solway Federation had a small convoy of only 244 birds (39/244) heading for Bedhampton on Saturday 22nd June. Liberated at 10-45am into a fresh South-West wind, the birds made short work of the miles and homed with velocities into the 1500s. Bedhampton is 309 miles from my club and was heavily voted in at the last A.G.M. however I don’t think the race point was the cause of a poor turn-out, I suspect it’s been because of heavy losses throughout the Federation and most fanciers just don’t have the birds.
Anyway back to the race where we find the overall winner is from Brydekirk, R.J.B.Renwick. In fact Rab was 1st, 2nd and 4th on velocities of 1512.9, 1512 and 1497 with two two-year old Cocks and a yearling. Well done Robert!

R J B Renwick timed three good birds to take 1st, 2nd and 4th with velocities of 1512.9, 1512.3 and 1497. Rab’s winner being a two-year old Blue Pied Cock and as said before topped the Federation.
Ewart Warwick takes 3rd doing 1501.

Hoddam F.C. 6/42
Mr & Mrs J Graham got three of a drop to take 1st, 2nd and 3rd with velocities of 1405.25909 and 1405.25909 a dead heat!
The third bird timed was doing 1405. My winner this week being a Ron Crook Chec Hen. G Dalgliesh & Son are 4th doing 1383.
Springfield H.C. 5/32
G Grant & Son timed a four-year old Red Cock to take 1st Club on 1497, followed by Mr & Mrs Gus Power taking 2nd on 1461.
W F Van Nuil is 3rd doing 1454 and the winner is in again on 1414.
Annan H.C. 6/21
J F McCarton wins his third race of the season on a velocity of 1474. A Nicholson nips into 2nd spot doing 1460, followed by the winner J F McCarton on 1414. W Jamieson is 4th on 1371.
Nith Valley H.C. 6/36
A good race here for W J Smith, he timed four good birds to take 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th on velocities of 1441, 1440, 1351 and 1321. Good flying from a race over three-hundred miles.
D Callander came in 3rd doing 1398.
Dumfries F.C. 6/36
Mr & Mrs Karl Guenther and Grandson take this one doing 1301 followed by Krause & Charteris in 2nd spot on 1281.
Mr & Mrs Karl Guenther & Grandson comes in again taking 3rd with a velocity of 1279.
The best ‘brickie’ in Dumfries, W Swan is 4th on 1269.
