The Solway Federation (65/455) was down at Buckingham on Sunday 8th June, convoyed by the S.N.F.C. and liberated at 06.15am into a ‘no wind’ report. It was a nice day at the home end and the birds homed with velocities well into the 1700s. The leading bird into the Federation was timed by G Grant & Son of Springfield. I’m not quite sure if I’m correct but I’m sure this will be their seventh win from eight races. Gordon’s bird also takes 1st section, 3rd Open S.N.F.C. and they timed the first four into the Club on velocities of 1784, 1764, 1751 and 1676.
The Open Federation results is as follows: G Grant & Son of Springfield Club 1st, 6th and 10th doing 1784, 1764 and 1751. Jim Seaton of Dumfries FC is 2nd on 1776. G A & L Firth from Lockerbie take 3rd doing 1773. D Nordon of Langholm is 4th and 5th doing 1764.3 and 1764.2. A Henderson also Langholm is 7th doing 1756.6. Mrs L Hay of Nith Valley is 8th with a velocity of 1756.4 and also from Nith Valley, J Miller 9th doing 1755.

Hoddam F.C. 7/52
It was a good race here for young John Little; he had six birds in the top ten to take 1st, 3rd and 4th doing 1710, 1702 and 1689.
Jimmy Dalgliesh is 2nd Club doing 1703.
Lockerbie H.C. 4/40
It’s another good win for George A & L Firth who timed two good birds to take 1st and 2nd Club with velocities of 1773 and 1726.
Kenny Thomson has the next two doing 1725 and 1683.
Annan H.C. 8/56
A good win here for D Anderson his winning pigeon had a velocity of 1650. R J McCarton takes the 2nd spot doing 1647.
R S R Rome & R J Rome are 3rd doing 1639 and R & M Seaton 4th doing 1609.
Eastriggs H.C. 10/64
Nice to see Nelson & Holliday taking the Red here with a velocity of 1638, followed by Jim Ferguson taking 2nd and 4th doing 1611 and 1572. C Halbert is 3rd on 1588.
Brydekirk H.C. 8/633
It’s another good win here for Scott Irving Jnr (Loft 1) who timed two birds to take 1st and 4th doing 1704 and 1641.
Scaife & Garner are 2nd with a velocity of 1678.8 and R J B Renwick takes 3rd on 1678.3
Langholm H.C. 4/36
Only four birds on the list this week and its D Nordon taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th with velocities of 1764.3, 1764.2, 1706 and 1705.
Dumfries F.C. 7/46
Jim Seaton takes this one with a velocity of 1776. Jim’s bird also takes 2nd Open Federation.
R & A Brown are 2nd on 1718. Mr & Mrs Karl Gunther and Grandson are 3rd on 1676 and Krause & Charteris are 4th doing 1652.
Nith Valley F.C. 8/49
It’s a great win here for lady fancier Linda Hay. Linda timed her four year old Chequer Cock to take 1st Club, 2nd West Section and 8th Open Federation with a velocity of 1756.
It was a double celebration for Linda as it was her forty-second wedding anniversary on the day as well as having the first bird timed into Dumfries. Well done!
J Millar timed in to take the 2nd spot doing 1755 and A Russell takes 3rd doing 1715 followed by G Russell taking 4th doing 1637.
