The Solway Federation (40/163) were down at Maidstone on Saturday 23rd July. Convoyed by the S.N.F.C., the convoy of 3,442 birds were held back to Monday when they were liberated at 6.45am into a no wind situation.
The race turned out to be a pretty steady one with quite good returns. As this was a Solway Federation race and due to the many losses we’ve had, only 163 birds from 40 members made the journey. All was to fly for though as we had the S.N.F.C. to compete with, a total of 3,442 birds. Topping the Fed this week is yours truly, Mr.& Mrs.J.Graham. I took 1st, 4th Club, 1st Federation followed by 89th Open S.N.F.C. with a velocity of 1083.

Another good win here for Mr & Mrs Gus Power & Allen on 1075, their timer also put the bird in 4th Open, followed by W.F.Van Nuil with a velocity of 1050 and 7th Open. Raymond White is never far away and he came in 3rd as well as 9th Open doing 1036.
Hoddam F.C. 6/27
Taking 1st and 4th is Mr & Mrs J.Graham, who also take 1st Open Federation with velocities of 1083 and 1001. My winner this week was bred by Ron and Angela Crook down in Oxen. The sire is from a daughter of Brian Long's noted stock Cock named ‘Storm’, a De Klack Janssen. The dam is a Van Der Espt that was loaned to Ron by Nigel Llewellyn and is named ‘Gwen’, which was 1st Open BICC Bergerac in 2006.
W.Gilmour is also having a good year and takes 2nd Club, 6th Open Fed on 1062. Jimmy Dalgliesh is 3rd Club, 10th Open doing 1026.

Only two birds clocked here and the Gold as well as 8th Open Fed goes to G.A. & L.Firth on 1047.
Kenny Thomson takes 2nd on 983.
Annan H.C. 6/20
Once again it’s R.S.R.Rome & R.J.Rome out front on a velocity of 1009 as well as 8th East Section. A.Nicolson is 2nd doing 1006 and Dennis Anderson 3rd on 939.

A good win here for Scaife & Garner doing 869, followed by H.Dobie on 779.
Nith Valley H.C. 7/28
Brian Love takes this one on 1082 with a good pigeon that was 1st Club, 1st West Section, and 2nd Open Federation. A good yearling with a bright future ahead, I’m sure. Well done Brian, you held me to a yard.
A.Russell takes 2nd Club, 2nd east Section, 3rd Open on 1076.
Another fancier doing well at the moment is W.J.Smith who takes 3rd Club, 3rd West Section and 5th Open on 1070.
J.Miller nips into 4th Club, 4th West Section on 998. R.Burgess is next taking 5th Club, 5th Section doing 981.
