Saturday July 1st and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Kingsdown for their final old bird inland race with the pigeons being liberated at 11-00 in a west north west wind.

Getting the first two pigeons into Derby and taking three of the first four positions in Osmaston Park Homing Society was the Chaddesden loft of Dave Waddington.His winner was a yearling cheq cock doing 1594 followed by a three year old blue cock doing 1590 then a two year old cheq cock doing 1567.In third position was Mick Stone with a yearling blue cock doing 1586.

In Ilkeston Bulls Flying Club R & M Duffield take two of the first four positions with the winner doing 1588 and their second pigeon doing 1575.4 to take third.In second position was K.Haslam & Son doing 1575.7 with John & Pamela Dowd in fourth doing 1572.

In Etwall & District Flying Club Alan & Liz Houldsworth take the red card with a blue yearling cock doing 1563 followed by a two year old cheq cock doing 1538 to take third. In second & fourth positions was Steve Billings with a three year old mealy cock doing 1555 followed by a seven year old blue cock doing 1533.

R & M Duffield Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club winners from Kingsdown

The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Portland and the pigeons were liberated at 09-00 in a strong north west wind.Making a clean sweep in Derby Premier taking the first four positions was Paul & Lynda Todd.Their winner was a three year old cheq cock doing 1274.1 followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1274 then a four year old cheq hen doing 1261 with a yearling cheq cock doing 1257 to take fourth.

Congratulations to L.D.S. Johnson of Allenton who on Saturday won the Midlands National Flying Club race from Ancenis which was a very hard race. An excellent performance and an outstanding achievement.
