Castle Gresley Annual Christmas Show 29-12-2023.
Castle Gresley Homing Society held their annual Christmas show on the 29th December at the Joiners Arms in Swadlincote. There were five classes consisting of Eye Sign, 60 miles Young Cocks/Young Hens handled, 150 mile Cock / Hen Handled, Old Cock /Hen T.T.W. Young Cock/Hen T.T.W.
The judge for the Eye Sign Class was Chris Gilliver and the winner of this class was Mr & Mrs G W Evans.
Taking second and Very Highly Commended was Mick Willis & Family with T & D Fearn taking Third & Fourth and Highly Commended. Taking Reserve was Davis Wright & Sons with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking Commended.

The 60 miles Young Cocks/Young Hens handled class was judged by Alan Houldsworth and taking the red card was Mr & Mrs G W Evans. Taking second was A. Peach & Son with Mick Willis & Family taking Third. Taking fourth & Commended was T & D Fearn with Davis Wright & Sons taking reserve. Taking Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended was Litherland, Baily & Harrison.

The 150 mile Cock or Hen Handled class was judged by Stewart Wainwright and getting the red card in this class also Best in Show was Litherland, Bailey & Harrison with Mick Willis & Family taking second. Third place went to A. Peach & Son with Fourth & Reserve going to Davis Wright & Sons. Taking Very Highly Commended, Highly Commended, and Commended. was T & D Fearn.

Old Cock /Hen T.T.W. was judged by Alan Houldsworth and taking the red card in this class was Mick Willis & Family who also took Fourth & Very Highly Commended. Taking Second was G. Buck & Son with Davis Wright & Sons taking Third. Litherland, Baily & Harrison took Reserve. Chris Gilliver took Highly Commended with Mr & Mrs G.W Evans taking Commended.

The Young Cock & Hens class was judged by Stewart Wainwright and taking the red card in this class was Mr & Mrs Alan Stretton who also took Very Highly Commended & Best Opposite Sex. Taking Second & Fourth was Litherland, Baily & Harrison with Chris Gilliver taking Third. Alys Evans took Reserve & Commended and taking Highly Commended was Mick Willis & Family.

After the judges had finished judging there was a first class buffet which was prepared by Alys Evans. (Thanks Alys ) and a raffle with plenty of prizes to be won. The show organisers would like to thank the judges for coming along to do the judging and giving up their spare time at this festive time of year
