Saturday April 15th saw the opening races for both the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation who were at Cheltenham and the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation who were at Windrush.
The Burton & South Derbyshire Federations pigeons were liberated at 11-00 in a West North West wind.
Getting the first pigeon into Derby was Osmaston Park Homing Society winner Mick Fearn with a four year old blue Van Loon cock doing 1487 to take the red card, followed by a two year old blue cock doing 1454 to take fourth.In second position was Mick Willis & Family with a three year old mealy pied hen doing 1457.8 followed by Dave Glew in third position with a two year old cheq pied cock doing 1457.3.

In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club Colin Dolan took the first two positions with a yearling blue pied cock doing 1485.6 to take the red card followed by a two year old blue cock doing the same velocity.In second & third positions with a three year old cheq hen doing 1484.3 and a yearling cheq cock doing 1484 were
John & Pamela Dowd.
In Derby South Road Mr & Mrs P Todd made it a clean sweep with a yearling blue pied cock which was purchased from Steve Foster as a youngster doing 1465 to take the red card followed by a two year old mealy cock doing 1436,then a four year old blue pied hen doing 1433 with a yearling blue hen doing 1408
to take fourth.
Paul & Lynda Todd Derby South Road winners & Derby Premier Winners
In Etwall & District Flying Club Alan & Liz Houldsworth made it a clean sweep with their small team of hens all yearlings. Their winner was a blue hen
doing 1464 followed by a blue pied hen doing 1463 then two b/ch hens doing 1421 and 1406.
The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were liberated at Windrush at 10-40 in a west north west wind.Making a clean sweep in Derby Premier were
Paul & Lynda Todd with all their pigeons being two year olds.Their winner was a cheq hen doing 1479 followed by a mealy cock doing 1478
then a blue hen doing 1474 and finally a blue cock doing 1443.
Would like to say what a great job the all ladies team of Mother & Daughter (Driver & Convoyer) did in giving us a excellent race from Cheltenham.
