BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION.

Phil Whetton of Stretton hits us for six out of Stow on the Wold (1).

Saturday July 27th saw the opening race of the 2024 young bird season, out of Stow on the Wold in Gloucestershire. It was a near perfect day for the young birds, a very light wind from the west south west, nice bright skies; white fluffy clouds and temperatures in the low 20’s.

The birdage was low, as seen to be the norm these days fanciers didn’t seem confident that their youngsters were quite ready. It was the usual opening young bird race; with the leading birds making the expected speeds, but many making hard work of it, as far as I know returns overall were good. Looking at a few local feds, it seemed most liberated in the period between 8am and 9am; so the sky would have been well populated mid morning.

25 Members entered 548 birds which were liberated by Alys at 08-50 in a light west south west wind.

Congratulations to Phil Whetton of Stretton; he had a kit of six virtually arrive together to take the top six and 10th fed on 1603; 1589; 1588.9; 1588.2; 1588.2; 1587; 1568.9.
