Hot temperatures and East winds appeared for the 10th race of the season.

The Tenth Race of the 2025 season for the Wrexham Federation saw the birds released at 6:45am on Saturday 21st June from Brighton in a South wind.

29 members sent 416 birds.

14 mins 31 seconds covered the first 40 birds in the fed. 13 of the top 40 were yearlings this week.

Horse And Jockey saw Brian Griffiths taking the win, Brian timed a 5-year-old blue cock, this is an Adrian Duggins x Louella Veenstra he Is a winner of 4 x 1st and other positions. He has won on widowhood and natural and was sent to this race driving his hen. This year in the fed he has scored 29th (1334 birds) and 33rd (1456 birds). In second club P & T Reece timing a 3-year-old blue widowhood cock. Gunter Prang pigeon from syndicate lofts x Garry Inkley. Last year in the fed this bird scored 23rd (1008 birds) and 3rd (201 birds). He also won 1st North Wales Championship club. This year in the fed he has taken 26th (1547 birds) and 26th (1495 birds). Third club is Mr & Mrs BW Jones & Son timing a 2-year-old widowhood hen. Breeding Van Erck x Phillip Boal. Fourth club T. Elson and Daughter timing a 2-year-old Van den Bulck x Van Reet. Last year in the fed this bird scored 33rd (769 birds).

Llay HS saw Wilf Marsh taking the top 2 positions. First in the clock is a 2-year-old, this year in the fed this has taken 27th (1456 birds) and 26th (917 birds). Next in the clock is a 5-year-old who last year in the fed took 29th (318 birds). In third club is G&G Williams and Son timing a 2-year-old roundabout hen bred by Hale, Langa & Roberts, Cefn. This one topped the fed as a YB from Weymouth. Last year she scored following in the Fed, 18th (201 birds) and 33rd (282 birds). Fourth club is Phil Bellis timing a yearling.

Cefn Mawr HS saw Richards and Jones take 1st and 4th. Mark and Michael timed a 2-year-old grizzle cock and a 2-year-old red hen. In Second Club is C. Prevete & Son, Toni timed a 5-year-old blue cock. Paul Coombes bred this one. He won a 2nd club and got on fed sheet as a 2-year-old. Third club is Mark Jones timing a 2-year-old blue hen.

Ellesmere HS saw Andrew Lawley taking the top 3 positions. The winner is a 2-year-old cheq Widowhood cock. This is a Galaxy Lofts Verkerk x Gaby. Second is a Yearling Blue hen. Both parents are from Owen and Joesbury, the Dam is a full sister the fantastic bird Hurricane. Last year this hen took 2nd and 4th in our club 2 Bird. The third bird is a yearling Blue Cock, the sire is from Andrew’s good friend Steve Windsor and won Saintes for Steve, Galaxy Lofts Bloodlines. This bird was 2nd Club last year and was the winner of Herford (2) this year. In fourth club is Alan Shinton timing a yearling blue hen having only her 5th race of her life. Bred from Paul Coombes stock birds, which go back to his channel family bred from his founding hen ‘Perfection.’  As there was only 2 members sending this week the guys decided to put in £40 each for a single ‘Big’ Nom. Brymbo HS saw Lloyd Brothers taking 1st and 3rd. Rob and Tim timed a 4-year-old blue hen. They broke this hen from the loft of R&S. Lewis. Rob said this was big money signing. As a YB this bird scored 4th Club, 20th Fed. There second timed is a 7-year-old blue cock. He scored 3rd in the Eclipse 650-mile club from Hexham on the North Road in 2023. Second club is Steve Jones timing a 2-year-old pied hen. She is a Roman Klein. Last year in the fed she scored 19th (201 birds) and 10th (282 birds). Fourth Club is Lloyd & Bagnall, Keith and Steve timed a 2-year-old blue cock. This Lambrecht x Leo Hermans is taking its first card.

Wrexham and District HS saw H.V. Bateman & Son taking the win, Clive timed a 2-year-old widowhood cock. A winner of 2x1st. Sire from Ronnie Clare, Wirral, and Dam Staf Van Reet. Last year in the fed this one won 16th (201 birds), 25th (318 birds) and 13th (659 birds). Also taken 7th fed in the past. Second club is M & J. Thomas; Mike timed a Widowhood Cock which is a previous winner of 2x1st. This a Ceusters out of the stock loft.

Leeswood saw R, T & K. Hughes take the win, Ray and Tim timed a 3-year-old blue spot cock who has now won 7x1st and other prizes. Sire side old Barney Busschaert family x Alan & Martin Crawley x Jack, John & Adam Cocroft stock. Many out of the family have won and prized before. C & G Roberts take the next 3 positions, first in the clock is a 2-year-old Blue pied hen. Home bred out of Ivor Jones stock prized as young bird. Second in the clock a 4-year-old red hen off late the Tec Woodward. Won and prized this year plus many other prizes. Third is the clock yearling blue cock. Home bred out of stock from John the Farm Roberts. Prized as young bird.

Rhyl saw Gwynn Jones taking 1st and 2nd.

The North Wales Championship Club

They held there third first race from Weymouth. Well done to Steve Burgess on winning this and taking 3rd. Winning a total of £150, 2nd Derrick Jones winning £67, 4th P & T Reece (Secretary of this great duplication club) winning £27 and 5th Phil and Neil Bates winning £7.

Gobowen Two Bird

I have many memories of this great club with Den Kendrick at the helm. Stuart Davenport is now doing an excellent job on running this with great updates. They held their first race from Ramsgate; these birds were released with the Welsh South East National. Getting his reward for the hard work on making this race happen is Stuart Davenport. The winner is a 4-year-old blue hen winning a total of £241.50. She is a Herman Ceuster x Marshall, Marshall & Smith. She has previously won 3x1st club, including 5th fed. In the Gobowen Two Bird she has won 2x2nd, Chester 2 Bird 6th and 7th Section W in NFC. Stuart had a wonderful day winning both the Chirk and Bala club and in the Shropshire Fed took 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 10, and 11th from 725 birds. Second in the Gobowen Two Bird is Mr and Mrs Tommy Baker and Son Richie winning £158.90. They timed a 3-year-old Cheq White Flight cock, last year this bird took 5th (282 birds) in the fed. Rene Newlarts bloodlines, going back to originals they had in 1996. It has won 4x1st Club and its nestmate has won 6x1st. Third in the Two bird is Andrew Lawley winning £112.50 timing a 3-year-old blue cock, the sire is one of Alan Shinton’s ‘Max’ Birds x Galaxy. This bird won last year and took 34th (360 birds) in fed. He has also won in Bala club a few times. This cock has won this year taking 13th (971 birds) fed. Fourth Two bird is Richards and Jones winning £30 and fifth is Talent and Westbury winning £20. A grand Total of £563 was paid out by the club. Well done all.
