Our first young bird race of the season being our first out of 8 Young Bird Races, 65 Members Sent 1530 Birds Liberated at 11.30am In a North West Wind with the weather being fantastic with Sunshine. Right I will start with the clubs.
Smithfield HS 1st 2nd and 3rd was Mike and John Thomas Sorry No Details. 4th Steve Burgess with a van reet cock.
Llay HS 1ST and 4th Glyn Williamson with a Huybregt Bred by M&J Thomas Of Smithfield HS and bought at the Llay sale, and a Cooremans bred from stock off Skitch Hughes of Colwyn Bay, 2nd 3rd GE Jones Jones “Popsie” with a Delbar x Willy Thas Home bred, and a Willy Thas x Flor Engles bred by George Pulford , Both bought at the Llay HS Sale. The Llay HS Sale is not a breeder/buyer as such but the youngsters are judged on the best performance during the young bird season for the prize money.

Shotton HS 1st and 2nd Edgar Davies, Herman bred by J Abbey Scunthorpe and a homebred Wildy out of ex member Doug Morris Stock, 3rd and 4th Vic Jacobs&Son With two Wildy’s no more on those two.

C Turner cock as above x Gordon Cummins x Francis Howarth, 3rd and 4th Andrew Lawley with a Mike Hale x Derek Jones hen, and a son of Woodface, his Midlands National Flying Club Winner from Carentan.
Leeswood Inv 1st and 4th Ray,Tim and Kieron Hughes with a blue Gaby hen bred by Ronnie Dodd&Son From Chester and bought at the Llay HS Sale, and one off there old Busschaerts. A Blue Cock. 2nd and 3rd Mr&Mrs Gerald Richardson with a cheq cock and a cheq hen home bred out of John Gerald Stock.
Brymbo HS 1st 2nd and 3rd Rob and Tim Lloyd of Lloyd Bros with a red cock , Sire Homebred Busschaert x dam J Francis&Son and bought at the Hope House Hospice sale, a Dark Cheq Cock, Busschaert x one bought at the One Loft Race Sale, and a blue home bred Busschaert, 3rd Barry Cooke&Son, with a Janssen x Jos Thorne cheq cock, a half brother to 7th Chester 2 Bird 2010 with another half brother 32nd Midlands National Flying Club Chale 2010.

Hereford YB 2 Saw Our 2nd Race, 81 Members Sent 1981 Birds, Liberated into a Light South East Wind at 11.15am.
I'll start With My Club Horse&Jockey HS 1st 2nd and 4th Mr&Mrs BW Jones&Son with a Cheq Pied Gevaert x wildy x flor engles and sire Gevaert dam Wildemeersch x Flor Engles and she was 1st Combine Fougeres 2010 season, Next a blue pied Gevaert x van de rhee, sire bred by Pete&Terri Rodgers, dam purchased from Rod Sparkes of Sparks&Anna, Next a soontjen bred by Dave Geary, 3rd club Cyril Hulley&Dtr a Grizzle cock bred by V Clayton.

The nestmate came to win last week but had a bad trap, 2nd and 4th Edgar Davies with a vandenabeele and a home bred Wildy. This is the second week Brian Hodson “The Asda Man” has been to watch the birds on Saturday He’s bringing me luck! Brian has not raced young birds himself due to a big operation I hope Brian a good recovery.

Saturday 6th August Brought our 3rd Young Bird Race, The birds were brought back to Hereford from Monmouth because of bad weather at Monmouth, The birds were liberated at 10.05 am into a Light South West Wind and cleared immediately from the race point, With the birds having an excellent race. 82 members sent 1962 birds.

Llay HS 1st 2nd and 3rd Fred Tilston & Sons Peter and Steve with a blue vandenabeele cock, a cheq cock bred by Gerry Clements, Bought at the Llay Breeder/Buyer sale and a blue Vandenabeele hen, 4th Club Went to CW Marsh Wilf Marsh, the sire of this bird called Tyson was bred by GW Kirkland and is a desmet Mathys, dam is a maevert from George Pulford.
Wrexham Hs 1st 2nd and 3rd went to Gareth Jones GW Jones, with a blue darkness Vandenabeele cock off M&D Evans stock taking the first share of the pools, a Pencil blue Vandenabeele darkness hen off M&D Evans stock x Red Star Loft Lines. And a blue vandenabeele darkness hen again M&D Evans x A sister to the winner. 4th Club Marshall Garrigan with a janssen x Vandenabeele darkness cock.

This pair have bred us quite a few winners, second bird is a dark white flight hen, a Busschaert x Janssen, bought at Llay sale and now has 2 x 3rd clubs, was followed by a dark pied soontjen hen that won the second Hereford race. In 2nd club T Woodward with a cheq hen out of his good Channel birds.
