The Severn Valley Fed moved on to Fougeres on 9th June when 82 members sent 607 birds, liberated at 8.15am into a SW wind.

 

At Ombersley (12/79) Biker Ron Weavers, well on form now, clocked a hen bred down from his fed topper of a couple of seasons ago x Frank Homer lines, also a fed topper. Ron recorded 1555 to take 1st Club and 1st Fed. In 2nd on 1406 L & C Minton with a 4 year old blue cock with many prizes to his name. Brother Les took 3rd on 1377 with a Van Reet cock ‘found sitting on the gate’? 4th on 1375 Eric (Treader) Adams with a yearling Antherian cock bred by Bernie Pollard.

Newent & District (2/24) saw Martin Williams taking all four positions plus 2nd, 3rd and 5th Fed on 1459(2), 1457 & 1372.

Pershore & District (8/82) had Paul, Brian & Wendy Hyett taking all four positions on 1458, 1456(2), 1443 for 4th, 6th, 7th and 13th Fed.

Charlton Kings (5/56). Following his win in the previous channel race, Willie Young does it again winning 1st and 3rd for 8th and 20th Fed on 1451 and 1432. 2nd and 4th plus 17th Fed was Tony Jenkins on 1439 and 1422.

Gloucester & District (11/87). 1st and 3rd on 1450 and 1416, also winning 9th Fed were Mr & Mrs Rob Kerr, both being yearling cocks the same way bred being Van Reet x Vandenbosche. 2nd on 1419 was Andy Harker with a 4 year old Van Loon cock. In 4th spot on 1414 were Aidan and Tony Locke with a 2 year old cock down from their De Klak/Braspenning lines.

Upton on Severn (12/86) saw Trevor Booth & John Roper winning 1st, 3rd & 4th together with 10th & 16th Fed on 1448, 1441 & 1421. Splitting these for 2nd spot was A Cooper on 1446 which was 12th Fed.

Worcester SRFC (11/52). 1st & 4th on 1448 & 1428 were Barry and Dot Ricketts, their first also being 11th Fed. This was a 3year old Vandenabeele cock and wins all pools and corn nomination. Their second bird was a 2 year old Vandenabeele. 2nd Club 14th Fed on 1442 was Dennis Honeywood & Son with a 2 year old Van Loon hen. In 3rd Club 19th Fed on 1433 was John Hale with a 3 year old Lambrecht cock.

Bromsgrove & District (7/53) had Liam Ward taking 1st, 2nd & 4th Club and 15th Fed on 1441, 1432 & 1425. In between these for 3rd spot on 1428 was M Ralph.

Cheltenham HS (8/43). 1st & 2nd Club plus 18th Fed on 1439 and 1399 Was J Gwillim & Son. P Keyte was 3rd on 1381 and 4th was taken by M & T Griffin.

Malvern (6/45) saw Mick & Chris Lee taking 1st on 1401, 2nd & 3rd went to Booth & Roper on 1393 & 1385 and 4th on 1373 was T & J Davis.

 

Gloucester & District’s annual President’s Race was flown in conjunction with the Fed race from Fougeres when 16 sent 70 birds. There was £300 up for grabs in prize money and Bromsgrove’s Liam Ward took the first two positions on 1425 & 1420, winning £211. In 3rd on 1419 was Andy Harker winning £60. A & A Locke took 4th spot and £30 on 1414.

 

16th June saw the Severn Valley Federation back at Poole when 85 members entered 938 birds, liberated into a strong SW wind, the birds made exceptional times.

 

Worcester SRFC (11/89) saw Dave Attwood & Son taking 1st & 3rd Club, 1st & 3rd Fed on 2104 & 2105. First bird was a yearling Van Reet cock, second was a yearling Van Reet hen. In 2nd spot also winning 2nd Fed was the partnership of Mr & Mrs John Ryder & Son on 2104 with a 2 year old Walter Docx cock, also winning all pools and corn nom. 4th Club, 5th Fed on 2090 Dennis Honeywood & Son with a yearling Van Loon hen. Barry & Dot Ricketts also took 7th Fed on 2042.

Ombersley (11/139). 1st Club 4th Fed on 2099 went to Martin & Nancy Minton with a George Marshall Marcelis yearling widower. In 2nd on 2062 also winning 6th Fed was L & C Minton with a 3 year old cock down from Les’ old ‘Fearless’ lines. 3rd & 4th plus 11th & 13th Fed was Bernie Pollard. The first from Dean Cartmel lines the other being Bernie’s old Antherian lines. Both were 2 year old cocks. Also in the Club, Eric Adams takes 17th Fed.

Pershore & District (10/99). 1st Club 8th Fed on 2040 C J Allen; 2nd Club 10th Fed on 2033 K P & M Fitzpatrick; 3rd & 4th Club 15th & 16th Fed P B & W Hyett on 2017 & 2016.

Bromsgrove & District (8/79). 1st Club 9th Fed on 2036 Jauncey Brothers; 2nd Club 14th Fed on 2021 K Smith & Son; 3rd & 4th Club 19th & 20th Fed on 2012(2) was Liam Ward.

Cheltenham HS (8/75). 1st & 4th Club 12th Fed went to W (Bill) Townley on 2028 & 1948. 2nd & 3rd on 1997 & 1990 was Dave Caudle.

Malvern (6/47) saw Mr & Mrs Tony Drinkwater winning 1st, 2nd & 4th Club together with 18th Fed on 2013, 2008 & 1950. In 3rd spot was E Collins on 1983.

Charlton Kings (6/102) was won by Tony Jenkins on 2007. Fed President Pete Lloyd of P V & M Lloyd took the next three positions on 1968, 1967 & 1901.

Upton on Severn (12/104). In form Lionel Brewer took the first three positions on 1996, 1975 & 1938. In 4th spot on 1895 was the Pitts-Tucker family.

Gloucester & District (10/129). 1st on 1957 was Joe Lanciano with a yearling Vandenabeele cock. Now on widowhood, Joe’s team is hitting top form. 2nd Club on 1949 was A & A Locke with a 2 year old cock having flown the channel the previous week. 3rd & 4th on 1931 & 1911 was Andy Harker – never far away from top spot his Van Loons are always reliable.

Newent (3/39). K & S Berrows take the top spot on 1954. 2nd, 3rd & 4th were won by I & K Farley on 1840, 1824 & 1806.

 

The Severn Valley Fed’s Hens’ Race from West Bay on 2nd June saw a win for Dennis Honeywood & Son on 1464; P B & W Hyett were 2nd on 1448, Dave Attwood & Son 3rd on 1381. 4th on 1371 was Bernie Pollard, 5th on 1313 D Potter and 6th on 1304 the Pitts-Tucker family.
