Kingsdown & Newton Abbot - August 2012

The Severn Valley Federation at Kingsdown on 11th August had 74 members entering 1147 birds. Liberated into a SE wind.

Upton on Severn (15/229). Taking the top ten in the Club and Fed together with 17th & 20th Fed was A Cooper on 1456(3), 1455(5), 1454, 1453, 1405 & 1403. Also in the Club W Boulton takes 11th & 12th Fed on 1412(2), Pitts-Tucker Family on 13th & 16th Fed on 1410 & 1409 and S Harvey 18th & 19th Fed on 1404(2). The Upton fanciers not laving a lot for the rest of the Fed but

At Worcester SRFC (9/92) Martin Harford clocked two Vandenabeeles to take 1st & 2nd Club plus 14th & 15th Fed on 1409(2). Barry & Dot Ricketts were 3rd & 4th on 1391 & 1381 – a Vandenabeele followed by a Walter Docx which won all pools and corn nom.

Bromsgrove & District (5/77). 1st, 3rd & 4th were won by Jauncey Brothers on 1393, 1349 & 1348. 3rd Club was K Kemp on 1361.

Charlton Kings FC (7/143). Pete Barlow of Coombe Hill wins the Club on 1394 closely followed by Graham Clift for 2nd, 3rd & 4th on 1393(3).

Gloucester & District FC (7/143). 1st & 2nd Club went to Pete & Anne Phelps on 1368(2), both birds being down from their Dennis Sapin lines. 3rd on 1366 was Mark Weaver with a Rietvink Janssen and 4th on 1363 were D ‘Paddy’ Russell & Sons with a Van Reet. Paul Reed won the Nom.

Malvern South Road (6/96) saw Booth & Roper take 1st, 2nd & 4th Club on 1355(2) & 1340. Mr & Mrs Tony Drinkwater were 3rd on 1352.

Ombersley & District (9/149). Les Minton was 1st & 2nd on 1341(2) his first being from the old ‘Fearless’ lines and the other a Van Reet. In 3rd spot was Bernie Pollard on 1337 with an ‘Antherian’ cheq hen. Bernie is trying to put this family back on the map. In 4th Martin & Nancy Minton (I’m told it’s nancy’s bird, not Martin’s). Also from the Club, the members think that Bernie Pollard is Garth Manly’s cousin???? A few empty perches again.

Pershore & District (7/101). 1st on 1330 is Mr & Mrs Michael Hyatt, 2nd V Hussell on 1306, 3rd K P & M Fitzpatrick on 1297 and 4th Graham Clift on 1278.

Cheltenham HS (4/40). 1st & 2nd on 1295 & 1273 J Gwillim & Son. 3rd on 1248 Albert Wheeler. 4th on 1221 John Gregory.

Newent & District (3/34). Martin Williams takes 1st, 3rd & 4th on 1123, 872 & 779. T Chamberlain was 2nd on 962.

 

At Newton Abbot the Severn Valley Federation had 750 birds entered by 56 members and were liberated in a south wind.

 

Again the honours go to Upton on Severn (12/179) taking 18 of the top twenty in the Fed. In 1st Club and 1st Fed the Pitts-Tucker Family on 1685. 2nd Club plus 2nd, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th & 20th Fed Was A Cooper on 1666, 1651 & 1650(4). 3rd & 4th Club plus 3rd, 4th & 5th Fed was W Boulton on 1661, 1658 & 1657. Also in the Club Shane Harvey takes 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th & 14th Fed on 1655, 1654(4) & 1653(2).

It takes a good pigeon to be amongst the Upton birds but at Charlton Kings (3/77) Pete Barlow spoilt their clean sweep taking 1st, 2nd & 4th Club together with 6th & 7th Fed on 1657, 1656 & 1629. 3rd Club on 1642 was Graham Clift.

Gloucester & District (7/154). 1st & 2nd Club went to Mr & Mrs Phelps with two Dennis Sapin cocks on 1644 & 1626. 3rd on 1625 was Mark Weaver with the Rietvink Janssen which had taken 3rd the previous week. 4th, 5th & 6th Club on 1620(3) was Coney Hill’s ‘Mr Consistent’, Wes Hall who also won the Club Nom.

Bromsgrove & District (6/50). 1st spot went to K Kemp on 1621, 2nd on 1609 to M Ralph. 3rd & 4th on 1600 & 1546 was won by Jauncey Brothers.

Cheltenham HS (4/28). 1st & 3rd on 1603 & 1523 was John Gregory. 2nd & 4th on 1555 & 1512 was J Gwillim & Son.

Malvern South Road (7/71). 1st on 1592 Joe Smith; 2nd on 1560 Booth & Roper. Mr & Mrs Tony Drinkwater took 3rd & 4th on 1557 & 1556.

Pershore & District (4/53) was won on 1568 by Mr & Mrs Michael Hyatt. 2nd Club went to K P & M Fitzpatrick on 1551. 3rd on 1534 V Hussell and 4th on 1417 Irvine & Baker.

Ombersley & District (7/83) saw Richie Pollard take top spot on 1561 with a Dean Cartmel x Pete Beesty he bred by his Dad Bernie. In 2nd spot Les Minton on 1541 with a Van Reet cock. 3rd & 4th on 1534 & 1533 was Bernie Pollard both birds being down from Dean Cartmel lines. Bernie’s second pigeon was nest mate of the Club winner.

Worcester South Road (5/39). Martin Harford is doing well winning 1st, 2nd & 3rd on 1513(2) & 1491 with three Vandenabeeles. Wayne Morris was 4th on 1451 winning all pools and corn nom.
