The Severn Valley Fed at Messac on 23rd June had 86 members entering 590 birds. Liberated at 0700hrs in a SW wind turning NW.

Pershore (9/82) had the in-form loft of Paul, Brian & Wendy Hyett coming out on top to win 1st Club 1st Fed on 1572. The also took the next four positions in the Club winning 4th, 5th, 6th & 8th Fed on 1565(2), 1564 & 1560.

Worcester SRFC (13/64) saw Stuart Harford take 1st Club 2nd Fed on 1568 with a 3 yr old dark Vandenabeele cock which also won the pools and corn nom. 2nd, 3rd & 4th Club and 3rd, 18th & 19th Fed were Barry & Dot Ricketts. They recorded 1567 with a 2 yr old Vandenabeele cock and 1540(2) with 3yr old & 4yr old Vandenabeele cocks.

Gloucester & District (9/84). Joe Lanciano, the fancier in top form takes 1st & 2nd Club 7th & 10th Fed on 1561 and 1558. Joe’s first was a 2 yr old Vandenabeele cock bred down from birds entrusted to Joe for safe-keeping. His second bird was a yearling Janssen cock. Taking 3rd Club 14th Fed on 1543 was Mr & Mrs Rob Kerr with a yearling Van Reet x Vandenbosche. This pigeon had also taken 3rd in the previous channel race from Fougeres. In 4th spot on 1525 were Tony & Aidan Locke. This cock had also scored from Fougeres and was well-fancied – he won the club nom.

Upton on Severn (10/48).1st Club 11th Fed on 1556 was the Pitts-Tucker family; 2nd Club 13th Fed on 1543 was Shane Harvey. A Cooper took 3rd on 1536 and Mr & Mrs Reardon 4th on 1533.

Ombersley & District (14/91) saw Eric (Treader) Adams take the first two positions plus 9th & 17th Fed on 1558 & 1541. His first a yearling Van Reet pied cock from Mike Baldwin’s dispersal sale at Kidderminster. His second bird was a 3 yr old that did well in the 2011 MCC Messac race. 3rd & 4th Club on 1537 & 1525 were L & C Minton with two blue cocks down from Les’s old ‘Fearless’ lines.

Newent & District (4/26). 1st & 2nd also winning 12th Fed was Martin Williams. 3rd & 4th on 1513 & 1485 was I & K Farley.

Cheltenham HS (8/49) had Robbie Rome on 1542(2) also winning 15th & 16th Fed. J Gwillim & Son took 3rd on1531 followed on 1490 by Dave Caudle.

Charlton Kings (7/81) had Willie Young taking 1st & 4th plus 20th Fed on 1539 & 1532 – that’s yet another channel win for Willie! 2nd & 3rd on 1539 & 1538 was Tony Jenkins.

Malvern (7/37) saw Mr & Mrs Tony Drinkwater take the first three positions on 1526, 1524 & 1494. 4th on 1492 was Trevor Booth & John Roper.

Bromsgrove & District (5/28) was won by Liam Ward on 1524 followed by K O’Malley 2nd on 1497 with M Ralph taking 3rd & 4th on 1492 & 1488.

 

Severn Valley Fed were at Poole on 30th June when 91 members sent 1075 birds. Liberated in a SW wind.

Worcester SRFC (13/105) Winning 1st Club 1st Fed were Barry & Dot Ricketts on 1837 with a 3 yr old Walter Docx cock which also won the club’s pools and corn nom.2nd Club 9th Fed went to Stuart Harford 1827 with a yearling Vandenabeele cock. Stuart also took 20th Fed with another yearling cock. 3rd & 4th Club 11th & 16th Fed on 1826 & 1819 went to Dennis Honeywood & Son. Both were Van Loon cocks, the first a 4 yr old the other a yearling.

Ombersley & District (11/177) L & C Minton take the first four positions plus 3rd, 6th, 7th & 10th Fed on 1831, 1829, 1828 & 1827. The winner was a yearling Van Reet the others were all blues from the old ‘Fearless’ lines.

Upton on Severn (11/152) 1st Club 4th Fed Lionel Brewer on 1829. 2nd & 3rd Club 8th & 14th Fed on 1828 and 1821 went to Shane Harvey and 4th Club 17th Fed on 1819 was the Pitts-Tucker Family.

Bromsgrove & District (11/101) was won by K Smith & Son on 1829, also winning 5th Fed. 2nd Club 12th Fed on 1823 was M Ralph. 3rd Club 13th Fed was Liam Ward and R Ebbitt was 4th Club 15th Fed on 1821.

Pershore & District (10/104) 1st on 1804 P B & W Hyett, 2nd Mr & Mrs Michael Hyett on 1756, 3rd K P & M Fitzpatrick on 1744 and 4th 0n 1716 J & L Eggerton.

Newent & District (6/86) saw K & S Berrows take 1st & 2nd on 1778 & 1762. 3rd on 1725 C J Brooks and 4th on 1683 I & K Farley.

Gloucester & District (9/104) 1st, 3rd & 4th on 1774, 1773 and 1769 was Ray Bevan. The first bird was a yearling Vandenabeele from P B & W Hyett lines. The second was another yearling a Vandenabeele of P B & W Hyett x Redstar lines who won the Wincanton race at the start of the season. Third pigeon was another yearling of the same lines. 2nd Club on 1773 was Pr & Mrs Pete Phelps with a 2 yr old Dennis Sapin cock that was the sire of the partnership’s West Bay winner. Ray Bevan won the club nom.

Malvern (7/78). 1st on 1772 were Mike & Chris Lee; 2nd & 3rd went to Mr & Mrs Tony Drinkwater on 1754 & 1753. Joe Smith took 4th spot on 1728.

Charlton Kings (6/16). 1st on 1763 was Gernal Jones, 2nd on 1762 Pete Barlow. 3rd & 4th on 1761 & 1759 Tony Jenkins.

Cheltenham HS (7/52). Success for the Fed Chairman and his good lady Tracy. Martin & Tracy Griffin on 1742 followed by Robbie Rome in 2nd, 3rd & 4th on 1722, 1720 & 1710.

 

To add to ‘my’ Hall of Fame for the area.

In the NFC Messac race Martin Williams was 1st Section J 62nd Open and Pete Barlow was 2nd Section J 82nd Open.

MCC Messac saw Lionel Brewer get 1st Section A 4th Open.

MNFC Tours had John Fretwell taking 1st SW Section 34th Open.

CSCFC Tarbes had two cracking day birds into our area. First was Anner Smith flying 591 miles to win 1st NW Section 9th Open; secondly W ‘Bill’ Morris was 3rd NW Section 24th Open flying 604 miles.

NFC Tarbes. Steve Walker timed his only entry to win 2nd Section G 27th Open Mr & Mrs Bill Lewis won 1st Section J 18th Open; Williams Brothers were 3rd Section J 32nd Open and A ‘Ivan’ Hofton & Son 4th Section J 50th Open.

BICC Agen saw Robbie Rome take 3rd North Section 26th Open.
