Carentan - September 2012
The final young bird race of the season for the Severn Valley Federation was from Carentan with 75 members entering 515 birds. They were liberated into a NE wind.
At Bromsgrove & District (7/43) 1st Club 1st Fed goes to Liam Ward on 1247. 2nd on 1162 F Bourne; 3rd on 1154 K O’Malley and 4th on 1102 R Ebbity.
Gloucester & District (9/100). 1st Club 2nd Fed Ray Bevan on 1232 with a dark pied hen down from P B & W Hyatt lines x Ian Staffords ‘Miss Perfect’ lines. Ray was also 2nd Club on 1151 with a dark chequer Vandenabeele from P B & W Hyatt x Redstar lines. Ray gives thanks to the Hyatt family for such wonderful pigeons gifted to him. 3rd Clkub on 1122 were Mr & Mrs Pete Phelps who are never far away with their Dennis Sapin based family. In 4th & 5th Club on 1116 & 1115 was Wes Hall with two cocks. Wes is another fancier always near the top with his YB team.
Malvern South Road (4/45). 1st, 2nd & 3rd Club plus 3rd & 4th Fed on 1232, 1231 & 1167 was the partnership of T & J Davies. 4th on 1149 Mr & Mrs Tony Drinkwater.
Pershore (4/18). 1st Club 5th Fed K P & M Fitzpatrick on 1230. 2nd V Hussell on 1127.
Upton on Severn (12/90). 1st Club plus 6th, 12th, 13th, 14th & 16th Fed was Shane Harvey on 1219, 1198(3), 1195, 1194 & 1193. 2nd Club 7th Fed on 1214 L Cooper. 3rd Club 9th Fed. Also in the club B Lock takes 19th & 20th Fed on 1191 & 1187.
Charlton Kings (2/26). 1st, 3rd & 4th Club plus 8th Fed Graham Clift on 1214, 1080(2). 2nd Club on 1176 Pete Barlow.
Worcester South Road (14/68). 1st Club 10th Fed Martin Harford on 1209. 2nd E Jones on 1122. 3rd on 1075 Keith Brushwood. 4th on 1059 Dennis Honeywood & Son.
Ombersley & District (12/81). Dave Potter comes up with the winner on 1158 with a Van Loon x Leen Boers hen bred by neighbour and mate Randy Etheridge. She also wins the club pool and the ‘Muppet’ special. Dave’s already shouting over he hedge for some more. 2nd Club on 1146 is brewer Brian Lawrence with another bred down from birds purchased from the Cardiff One-Loft sale. He is a half-sister to Brian’s 2nd Section Carentan MNFC last season. Never far away Les Minton takes 3rd & 4th Club with two Van Reet cocks both on 1138. Thanks for the details Bernie – I hope we keep in touch (you know what I mean!).
Newent & District (5/16). 1st & 4th on 1093 & 1023 Martin Wiliams. 2nd & 3rd on 1091 & 1055 C & J Brooks.
Cheltenham HS (6/28). 1st, 2nd & 4th on 1039, 1038 & 944 Albert Wheeler. 3rd Club J Gwillim & Son on 1027.
In the Federation Breeder/Buyer from Kingsdown A Cooper takes 1st prize breeder & buyer winning £240. In 2nd place breeder Graham Clift, buyer W Boulton winning £91.80 each. In 3rd place breeder P B & W Hyatt, buyer Pete Barlow winning £61.20 each and in 4th spot breeder D F & H A Cook buyer K P & M Fitzpatrick winning £30.60 each.
In the second Breeder/Buyer race from Carentan breeder B Pollard buyer K P & M Fitzpatrick take top spot and £285.60 each. In 2nd place L Cooper wins both breeder & buyer and £428.40. T & J Davies take 3rd place as breeder & buyer winning £285.60. 4th place was breeder Booth & Roper, buyer A Cooper winning $71.40 each.
In the Carentan YB Championship Liam Ward is 1st on 1247. In 2nd & 7th spots T & J Davies on 1232 & 1167. 3rd on 1230 K P & M Fitzpatrick. 4th on 1213 S Harford. 5th on 1209 M Harford. 6th on 1176 Pete Barlow. 8th Booth & Roper on 1158. 9th K O’Malley on 1154 and 10th Mr & Mrs Pete Phelps on 1122.
