The birds were back at Stainmore, around the 115 miles back into Central Scotland. Liberated at 08 45 in a west south west wind but mostly west en route, the birds had to work hard to get into the 1100 velocity range but again there weren't many in that range with most struggling and many not homing on the day. All Central Scotland federation birds struggled from all liberation sites, racing from the east, south, east or south west. It just wasn't a great homing day for the pigeons. Possibly with a storm brewing that weekend the birds sensed what was in the air. The inexperienced birds seem to take the biggest hit. Some reported good returns but not many whilst others had significant losses. For those that think "I'm all right Jack", when you go down the club next week and you're flying against yourself, what is the fun in that? The winners this week not for the first time were recorded to the Airdrie & Dist club. These guys have had a great first season in the fed making light work of the rest of us most weeks. Well done lads, some flying. The top loft this week was John Barr, who has been on fire all year, winning most of the inland average trophies in the federation old birds programme. Well done John! Will need to get a mug shot of John as he is going to be at the top for a long time.
