Lanarkshire News - Worksop Race
This week we are in Worksop, Nottinghamshire around 211 miles back into lower central Scotland.
This week’s weather was rather unpredictable with plenty of heavy forecast for around the Scottish borders in the afternoon.
With the birds not getting up till 8am then it looked like the hit these as there was large gaps between returns and a large number of birds not on their perches at clock checking at 3pm.
Like every race the winners made the right road and headed into the high 1400s for their velocity's.
The birdage is starting to shrink with 2,300 Lanarkshire pigeons and 19 other crates compared to 3,300 last week.
This week also seen the start of the National programme from Reading so there would be a two race day for some.
This week’s winner is again from the North section into Chryston club for Colin Gray who's cheq yearling cock managed to cover his 219 miles in 4hrs 19 minutes for a velocity of 1488ypm.
Colin had an outstanding race winning the first three places in the federation.
Information from Colin on his winner, my fed topper at Worksop, his parents were gifted by the local partnership of Sharp, Cummings and Durning ,thanks lads.
The 2nd and 3rd federation birds are bred from birds from the late George Mann.
They are flown on roundabout and they fly well on it, many thanks to everyone who has sent there congratulations and best wishes after the race.
