Saturday June 20th and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Yeovil and the pigeons were liberated at 11-30 in a south west wind, in bright blue skies and plenty of sunshine. In Holbrook 10 members sent 279 birds with D & A Swift making it a clean sweep taking the first four positions with a two year old chequer cock doing 1850ypm taking the red card followed by a two year old b/w/f cock doing 1848 then a two year old red cock doing 1830 followed by a two year old black cock in fourth doing 1817.
In Osmaston Park Homing Society 18 members sent 299 birds with Paul & Lynda Todd taking two of the first four positions with a three-year-old blue cock taking top spot doing 1842 followed by a two year old chequer cock doing 1811 taking fourth. Dave Waddington took second with a two-year-old chequer cock doing 1830 with John & Steve Hicks in third doing 1817 with a four year old dk pied cock.
In Etwall & District Flying Club 9 members sent 167 birds and Alan & Liz Houldsworth were clear winners with their two-year-old chequer cock doing 1839 and their next pigeon a yearling blue cock doing 1721.7 in third. Their winner was bred of a pigeon gifted to them by Ralph Jepson. Second and fourth positions went to A. Peach & Son with a two-year-old blue hen doing 1734 followed by a yearling blue cock doing 1721.2
In Kilburn Club 6 members sent 160 birds and were at Marlborough with the Derby Burton & District South Road Federation with the pigeons being liberated at 09-10 in a south west wind. Making it a hat trick of wins was Keith Cresswell with a blue yearling hen taking the red card doing 1696 this was followed by a two-year-old chequer cock doing 1679 to take third. In second with a yearling dark cock doing 1689 was Keith Foulke with Hall & Parkin in fourth with a two year old pied hen doing 1669.

The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation pigeons were once again basketed Saturday for their race from Honiton on Sunday 28th June due to the poor weather. The pigeons were liberated at 08-15 in a strong west south west wind.
Having a excellent start to the season and winning their third race out of four was Paul & Lynda Todd who fly in the Osmaston Park Homing Society where 18 members sent 249 birds. Their winner was a three year old blue cock doing 2032ypm .In second with a dk/chequer yearling cock doing 2026 was Mick Stone followed by Mick Willis & Family in third with a three year old b/w/f cock doing 2023.In fourth were Glew & O'Donnell with a yearling blue hen doing 2021.
In Holbrook 9 members sent 199 birds with B & S Stone taking the red card with a two year old blue cock doing 2001.In second & fourth was Trevor Jennings with a three year old red hen doing 1998 & a two year old chequer cock doing 1983 taking fourth. In third with a two year old mealy cock doing 1993 was D & A Swift.
In Etwall & District Flying Club 9 members sent 156 birds with A. Peach & Son taking the top two positions. Taking the red card was a two year old blue hen doing 1970 followed by a five year old grizzle hen doing 1952. In third & fourth was Alan & Liz Houldsworth with a two-year-old chequer cock doing 1932.9 followed by a yearling blue cock doing 1932.3.
The Derby Burton & District South Road Federation were at Salisbury where the pigeons were liberated at 07-30 in a south south west wind. In Kilburn Club 6 members sent 178 birds with Keith Foulke made it a clean sweep taking the top four positions. His winner was a yearling chequer hen doing 1928 followed by a yearling slatey hen doing 1871, then a three-year-old black cock doing 1768 with a three year old dark cock doing 1767.
