BURTON & SOUTH DERBYSHIRE FEDERATION
By Pete Wightman

MR & MRS JOHN DOWD BACK WITH A BANG OUT OF HULLAVINGTON (2).
Saturday august 19th saw our birds at the second Hullavington race, they were met with a strong west wind, but the birds did really well, with excellent returns. The 1891 birds entered by 93 members were liberated at 10-00 in a strong West wind, and no surprises that the East side lofts dominate the result. The Heanor lofts of John and Pam Dowd took the fed to the cleaners out of the opening Cheltenham race some 3 weeks earlier, taking the top 14 positions in the Fed, but then their ybs had the sickness that seems to be everywhere reading the BHW?. No doubt that the 3-week break, correct treatment and management did the trick has they were back with a bang taking the first eight open positions.
They had 7 drop together, split by 10 seconds, on 1718; 1717.3; 1717.1 (2); 1716.5; 1716.3; 1715.8; these 7 were a minute and a half clear of their eighth bird on 1695. I’ve heard their leaders were a mix of Soontjens; Van De Merwe and one-off Shane Langton?
