Lanarkshire Federation - Otterburn comeback race 25/6/16
This week we returned to Northumberland in the North East of England for a race around the 80 odd miles mark.The weather was bright and sunny and the 2100 birds were away at 9am in a North west wind, but with showers around most of the country throughout the day some of the birds were returning with the effects of same.
The winners made good time and with velocities up in the 1200s into central Scotland.
Excellent returns are reported,which is always music to our ears.
These races have been few and far between recently and the Nationals this weekend again having horrendous returns.
The time on the wing,wind direction is crucial to the returns of the pigeons.We have to rethink our federation race programme next year with the birds well-fair the priority .
Next weeks race has been reprogrammed to Ypres from Arras, being convoyed by the SNFC and we hope for a better race.
This weeks federation winner is Jim Hannah of the Greenfield club.The winner is a very special hen that has already topped the federation earlier in the season (These ones are like hens teeth). It has been a magical weekend for Jim as his Champion hen has won the SNFC Gold award winner ,again this is a spectacular result and we all so chuffed for Jim who is one of Scotland's all time greats in the sport.
Jim has topped the federation three times this year "OUTSTANDING FLYING" Jim just bottle this form up for next season,ha,ha.
