LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION

Lanarkshire Federation, Sedgefield race report 13/8/16

This week took us to Sedgefield in the county of Durham, North East England .The 128 miles flight back into central Scotland for the 4,500 convoy. They were away at 07 00 into a west wind, which was reported fresh on route.

For pigeons flying back into the central belt this was a head wind .They had a tough day, with most federation’s reporting testing conditions and losses.

Lanarkshire was no different with some clubs reporting 50% returns at clocking.

Like most we took losses, which we really could all do without after a very testing old bird programme.

This week’s Open federation winners are the brilliant GWP Macaloney of Airdrie Dist club.

This loft has had its problems with its pigeons trapping since moving to their new loft location, which has caused havoc for the lads this season. They are working on a new strategy for next season to rectify this issue.

But this week’s winner was against the norm for this season and trapped well to record another 1st Open for the federation record breakers. Well done lads.

The winner is the lowest velocity recorded this season in Lanarkshire .Its bred from a Son of Shadow 75 and the dam is a Custer out of a granddaughter of Peter Fox New Rossi pair.

Paul (L) & Wullie Macaloney(R) record another federation winner
