And so the curtain falls on another eventful racing season. A year which has been difficult in parts but which has heralded some truly great performances and unearthed some potential stars of the future, with both pigeons and fanciers.
I would like to thank all my fellow scribes for their time and efforts this year, providing the material that allows us to get into print every week and although the job can be like extracting teeth, you have all been fantastic.
Thanks to our convoying team Billy Reeves and Noel Quarless for doing their utmost to give us the best racing possible every week. Once we place our pigeons go in the basket they are not ours until they are back home in the loft, but these 2 guys give their all to make sure that happens week in, week out.
Thanks also to secretary Irene Hartless and president Joe Pearman who aside from their demanding schedules (Irene in particular) are always on hand to help out when the need arises and are both tremendous ambassadors for our organisation.
A special mention of thanks also goes to the editing team at the BHW, Cameron Stansfield and Les Parkinson of Elimar Pigeons and Nick Barran of Fancier Chat, who do us a great service publishing our results every week and who always try to be as flexible as they possibly can.
And finally my biggest thank you is to all my fellow fed members. I have got to know some of you a lot better since taking over the scribe’s role and no doubt that will increase over the coming years, but I can honestly say I am honoured to be counted as one of you.
Over the winter period I will be catching up on a few loft visits and news of presentation nights as they arrive, followed by a good pig out at Christmas, a few more loft visits, a winter sojourn to sunny Blackpool and in no time at all, we will be back up the club with our warriors recharged, dreams in our minds and hope and song in our hearts!

Thank you all.
Darren
