I enclose a few photographs this week provided by Roy Reid of his old bird team. Roy had a great channel campaign in 2013 winning all 6 of his club races as well as peppering the federation sheet with multiple timings and his impressive run of club results also included only bird on the day from Messac and Niort.

Picture 1 is of 08 a winner of 1st club, 3rd North Liverpool Federation Bedhampton. His sire is the No1 cock the Cloud and his dam is the dam of Roy’s Monmouth fed topper (cock in picture 5).

Picture 2 is of the 425 a winner of 1st club, 17th North Liverpool Federation Carentan 1, 1st club only bird on the day, 3rd North Liverpool Federation Messac and 3rd club Monmouth.

Picture 3 is of cheq cock The 197 a winner of 1st club, 3rd North Liverpool Federation Fougeres 1. The hen is The 15, a winner of 1st club, 9th North Liverpool Federation Carentan 2.

Picture 4 shows 14 a winner of 1st club, 2nd North Liverpool Federation, 2nd North West Combine Portland 5,846 pigeons. 14 was also a brilliant young bird with a number of good performances behind him. His hen is P03 a full sister to Roy’s Monmouth fed topper (cock in picture 5) and she is a multiple prize winner from 97 to 392 miles, having been the bridesmaid on many occasions though never having taken the elusive red yet. Roy has only ever taken one clutch of eggs from P03 and from that clutch came a young hen to win 3rd club, 6th Liverpool Amalgamation for Kenny Simpson after having lost time on the trap, so a future in the stock loft perhaps awaits her in the future.

Picture 5 is of the 26 Cock who is of Staf Van Reet bloodlines and is a winner of 2x1st club including 1st club, 1st North Liverpool Federation Monmouth 2,463 pigeons and numerous prizes. His partner is the 800 Hen. She is of De Meester x Gevaert bloodlines and she is a winner of 1st club, 1st North Liverpool Federation, 3rd North West Combine Fougeres 1 1,801 pigeons, 2nd club 10th North Liverpool Federation 67th North West Combine Carentan 2 3,383 pigeons and 3rd club Blandford YB.

Picture 6 is of the 34 Cock, a winner of 1st club only bird on the day, 3rd North Liverpool Fed Niort after 15 hours 24 mins on the wing and 3rd club Bedhampton. The hen in the picture is 92 a winner of 2nd club, 2nd North Liverpool Fed, 5th North West Combine Fougeres 1.
Thanks Roy for the photographs and information. The birds look in great condition and I guess you and they will be raring to go come April.
If anybody wishes to have a few pictures included in the column get them over to me, preferably by email and we’ll get them into print. My apologies for the non appearance of the column the last few weeks, I’ve had a few things going on at home which are hopefully sorted and the plan now is to catch up with a few loft profiles leading up to the start of the new season so keep ‘em peeled. Thanks for reading.
