Osmaston Park Homing Society Shows 2017

 

Sunday November 5th saw the opening show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society which consisted of two classes Matched Pairs & Fancy colours. There was an excellent turn out and the pigeons in both classes were in excellent condition and were a credit to the fanciers.

Judging the fancy colours was Daniell & Sharon Johnson Midlands National winners 2017.  Taking the red card also 3rd,4th & V.H.C also best in show was Mick Willis & Family. Taking 2nd & reserve was club secretary Steve Stone with highly commended & commended going to Jason & Karen Philips?s other class was matched pairs with this one being judged by yours truly. Taking the red card also second was Chris Gilliver. Third fourth & V.H.C. went to Mick Willis & Family with Yule & Inger taking reserve highly commended & commended.

Sunday November 12th and it was the turn of the Old Cocks & Old Hens. Judging the old cocks class was Darren Johnson. Coming out top in this class getting the red card also second position was Dave Willis & Family. Third, fourth, very highly commended & commended went to Mick Willis & Family with Steve Stone taking reserve and Dave Waddington taking highly commended.

Judging the Old Hens class was Matt Cotton. Getting the red card and making it a double was Dave Willis once again also taking third, reserve & very highly commended. Second position went to John & Steve Hicks with Mick Willis taking fourth & highly commended with Yule & Inger taking commended.

Sunday 19th November was the turn of the Young Cocks & Young Hens and the judge for this one was Roger Duffield who judged both classes.
Taking the red card in the young cocks class was Mick Willis & Family with Ron Hall and his grandson George Torry taking second. In third, highly commended & commended was Chris Gilliver. Taking fourth was Paul Adams with Mick Stone taking reserve, and very highly commended going to Jason & Karen Phillips.

In the young Hens class Mick Willis made it a double taking the red card also second & highly commended. Third place went to Yule & Inger with Mick Stone taking fourth. Dave Willis & Family took reserve with Chris Gilliver taking very highly commended and Dave Waddington taking commended.

Sunday 26th November and it was the turn of the Old Cocks & Young Hens and the judges for this one was Chris Gilliver old Cocks and Phil Wright Young Hens. Getting the red card in the Old Cocks class was Yule & Inger who also took 4th & Highly Commended. Taking 2nd was Dave Willis & Family with Mick Willis & Family taking 3rd, Very Highly Commended & Commended with reserve going to Mick Stone.

In the Young Hens class Chris Gilliver had a good day taking five of the eight positions taking the first four & Highly Commended. Taking reserve was Yule & Inger with Steve Stone taking Very Highly Commended and Commended.

Sunday December 3rd and it was Old Hens & Young Cocks and the judge for this one was Tony Whitehurst who judged both classes.
Getting the red card in the Old Hens class was Yule & Inger who were also second & fourth with their winner taking best in show. Third & Highly commended went to Dave Willis with reserve going to Mick Stone & Very Highly Commended going to Brian Dyjas with Mick Willis taking Commended.
In the Young Cocks class Brian Dyjas took the red card with Dave Waddington taking second, third & Commended. Taking fourth, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended was Mick Willis & Family with Yule & Inger taking reserve.

Sunday December 10th was the final show and it was Any Age cock or hen and the Champion of Champions class. With the bad weather over night the entries were down slightly but the standard of pigeons was still first class. Judging the Any Age cocks was George Mason who is well known for his outstanding success with his excellent team of Birmingham Rollers. Taking the red card and third was Mick Willis & Family, taking second was Dave Willis & Family with Paul Adams taking fourth. Taking reserve & Commended was Yule & Inger with Chris Gilliver taking Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended.

Due to the bad weather the judge for the Any Age Hens class was unable to attend and yours truly was asked to do the honours. Taking the red card, third, reserve & commended was Yule & Inger. John & Steve Hicks were second with Chris Gilliver taking fourth & Commended. Taking Very Highly Commended was Mick Willis & Family.

In the Champion of Champions class which was judged by both the judges present Mick Willis & Family came out the winner with Yule & Inger runners up. Over the past six weeks the shows have been a huge success and a credit to all involved.
Every week the pigeons in respective shows were in excellent condition and were a credit to the fanciers concerned.

The show committee would like to thank all the judges, all who supported the shows, all who brought raffle prizes every week and a special to thank you to George Torry & John Inger for helping out with the administration. The raffles over the six shows made a total of £577.
