Etwall & District Flying Club 2013 Presentation

Saturday December 16th saw the annual prize presentation evening of the Etwall & District Flying Club which was held at the Royal British Legion Club in Repton. Presenting the prizes and guest of honour for the evening was former club member Pete Bevan. After a short speach by club president Jim Summers the presentation got under way.


Highest prize winner for the 2013 season was hard working club secretary Alan Peach who competes as A Peach & Son winning 4x1sts, 2x2nds, 1x3rd & 4x4ths, winning inland average cup, young bird average trophy, J Childs nominated trophy & silver horse shoe shield and prize money of £368.47.

Next up was Dave Williams & Son winning 4x1sts, 5x2nds, 4x3rds & 3x4ths winning A Peach memorial cup (inland average), second young bird sale race breeder and prize money of £320.24.

Sam Phillips came next with 3x1sts, 1x2nd, 3x3rds & 4x4ths winning Messac cup for first yearling, two longest non special race average cup, second young bird sale race buyer and £260.12 prize money.

 

Next came Mr & Mrs T Childs & Son with 2x1sts, 3x2nds, 2x3rds & 4x4ths winning P Bevan lowest winning velocity shield, first young bird sale race buyer winning prize money of £204.95.



Next came Steve Billings with 3x1sts, 5x2nds, 3x3rds & 2x4ths winning Messac cup, T Childs memorial cup, ladies race winner and prize money of £162.17.

Paul Williams came next winning 5x1sts, 4x2nds, 4x3rds & 1x4th winning Carentan shield, Norman Kellett memorial shield, second ladies race and prize money of £161.26.

Next came Mr & Mrs Houldsworth with 1x1st, 2x2nds, 3x3rds & 3x4ths winning first yearling Messac tankard & G Childs nominated old bird shield and prize money of £161.11.

Mr & Mrs T Whitehurst came next with 2x1sts, 1x2nd, 2x3rds & 1x4th winning E Fowkes memorial cup, J Fowkes 500 mile shield, G Williams memorial cup (Yelverton), Yelverton shield, Old bird average cup, Overseas average cup, Mr & Mrs Houldworth longest old bird, longest young bird average cup, special race average cup, golden horse shoe shield also winning the young bird sale race breeder, third ladies race and prize money of £144.60.

Next came Willy Orton winning 1x3rd and prize money of £29.06 followed by Shaw Brothers, A & C Perry & Paul Burton winning smaller amounts.

Unfortunately our ladies race winner Mrs Billings could not be with us due to recently coming out of hospital. We all wish you a speedy recovery and get well soon.


After the presentation club Secretary Alan Peach & Pete Bevan presented Ann with a bouquet of flowers for providing us with an excellent buffet. Also presented with a bouquet was Jenny, Pete's partner. There was a raffle in which Sam Phillips did an excellent job of raising £123 plus a wonderful Christmas cake which was made by Vena Childs and auctioned of by Sam Phillips which made £23.


All the members would like to thank our secretary Alan Peach for all the hard work he has done for the club also the club officials for making the club what it is being managed in an excellent manner every year.
