Osmaston Park Homing Society Shows
Sunday October 31st saw the start of the show series for Osmaston Park Homing Society with six shows planned in the run up to Christmas. For their first show there were two classes. Fancy colours and blues & chequers. There were 100 pigeons in the two classes which were all in excellent condition and the judge and sponsor for this show was Alan Houldsworth, with a real tough job on his hands due to the high standard of the pigeons.

In the blues & chequers class it turned out to be an excellent day for John Inger with his team of Dordins. John took seven of the eight prizes plus best in show with Dave Willis taking commended.

In the fancy colours class Steve Stone took the first prize also best opposite sex. Taking second, third & reserve was John Inger with Mick Wilis taking fourth, Very Highly Commended & Commended. Taking Highly Commended was Shenton Brothers Ron & Norman.

Sunday 7th November and it was the second of the shows for Osmaston Park Homing Society which was Young Cocks & Young Hens. The sponsor for this show was club secretary Steve Stone. The Judge for this show was Trevor Jennings who was assisted by his friend Kevin Mathews. Once again the standard of the birds entered was very high with 95 birds entered in total.

Winning the young hens class also getting best in show was Alan & Liz Houldsworth who also took fourth. Taking second, third & commended was John & Inger. Steve Stone took reserve with Mick Willis & Family taking Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended.

In the young cocks class getting the winner plus taking best opposite sex and Highly commended were Mick Willis & Family. In second was Mick Stone with John Inger taking third, reserve, Very Highly Commended & Commended. With Mick Fearn taking fourth.

The third show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society was sponsored by Steve Lambert which was held on Sunday 21st November. This time it was old cocks & old hens. It was another good turn out with 98 pigeons in the pens in the two classes, and yet again all the pigeons in first class condition. The judges for this show were Darren Hadfield and Lynden Moates. Winning the old hens class also getting best in show were Alan & Liz Houldsworth who also took third. Taking second, fourth & commended was Mick Willis & Family with Dave Willis taking reserve & very highly commended. Taking highly commended was John Inger. Winning the old cocks class and best opposite sex was Mick Willis & Family who also took second, reserve & very highly commended. In third was Dave Willis with Dave Wadington taking fourth. Mick Stone took highly commended and taking commended was John Inger.

Unfortunately due to the bird flu restrictions the remainder of the shows had to be cancelled.
A big thank you to Mick Willis, Steve Lambert for all their hard work they put in putting the pens up then taking them down plus all the cleaning up they did after the show was over.
A special thankyou to Garry Fletcher who donated £10 to every best in show winner plus £100 prize money for the champion of champions class also to the show sponsors to the shows to date and those who gave raffle prizes and not forgetting the members who supported the shows. There was approximately £250 raised over the three shows which will be raced for over two races, one old bird and one young bird. Races to be announced later with the same rules applying as in previous show races.
