Sunday May 25th 2014 and the Burton & South Derbyshire Federation were at Carentan for the first of their federation special races. The pigeons were liberated at 08-30 in a light south wind.

 

In Ilkeston Bulls Head Flying Club getting the red card with a three year old blue cock doing 1908 was Rick Shelton. Rick also takes fourth position with a three year old blue cock doing 1787. In second position was G Inger & Son with a yearling cheq pied hen doing 1808 followed by Mr & Mrs Dowd in third position with a five year old cheq hen doing 1804.

 

In Derby South Road Club getting the red card also the first pigeon into Derby and also taking third position was Jake Harcup. Jake's winner was a yearling cheq hen doing 1830 followed by a yearling grizzle hen doing 1629. In second position was Dave Glew with a yearling b/pied hen doing 1733 with John & Steve Hicks in fourth with a four year old blue cock doing 1644.

 

In Etwall & District Flying Club taking the top two positions was Paul Williams with a two year old cheq cock doing 1855 and a four year old cheq cock doing 1849. In third position with a three year old blue cock doing 1798 was Steve Billings with fourth position going to A. Peach & Son with a mealy cock doing 1766.

 

In Osmaston Park Homing Society Bob Ford took the first two positions with both his pigeons doing 1778. His winner was a blue four year old cock and his second pigeon was a grizzle cock which was bred by club mate John Hassee. These two pigeons were 1st & 2nd Saintes 2nd & 3rd Burton & South Derbyshire Fed in 2013. In third position was Mick Frawley with a five year old red pied cock doing 1715 with Paul Adams in fourth with a dk/cheq cock doing 1691.

 

In the Silver Ghost Homing Society Terry Budd takes the red card also second position. His winner was a two year old blue cock which was bred by P. Inckle doing 1773 and his second pigeon was a two year old dk/ch cock doing 1736. In third & fourth positions was Woolley & Rogers. Their first pigeon a two year old pencil cock doing 1676 and their second pigeon was a four year old blue cock doing 1667.

 

The Burton & South Derbyshire Federation also held a inland race from Frome and the pigeons were liberated at 09-15 in a south west wind.

 

In Derby South Road Club taking the first two positions also getting the first pigeon into Derby was the in form Mackworth loft of Roy Gregory & Son with two, two year old blue cocks doing 2069 & 2049 with John & Steve Hicks in third & fourth positions with a mealy yearling cock doing 2039.7 and a cheq yearling cock doing 2039.1.

In their five bird section Roy Gregory & Son take the first two positions doing 2069 & 2049 with John & Steve Hicks in third & fourth positions doing 2039 & 2038.

 

In the Silver Ghost Flying Club Mick Willis & Family get the winner with a three year old b/cheq hen doing 2062 .Second position went to Brian Dyjas with a yearling blue cock doing 2013 followed by Rueben Hough in third with a two year old cock doing 2001 with Woolley & Rogers in fourth with the runaway cock doing 1999.

 

Taking the red card for the third time in Etwall & District Flying Club was Mr & Mrs Childs & Son with a three year old blue cock doing 2044. In second position was Paul Burton with a two year old cock doing 2039 followed by Steve Billings in third doing 2038 with a two year old cheq cock with Dave Williams & Son in fourth doing 2037 with a three year old c/w/f cock.

 

In Osmaston Park Homing Society Mick Fearn comes out on top with a four year old cheq cock doing 2034. Taking the next two positions was Mick Stone with a two year old blue cock doing 2026 and a yearling cheq hen doing 2025 with Steve Stone in fourth position with a blue cock doing 2002.
