Bob Ford with Arnie Dicken dismantling Arnie's loft at the end of his racing career. Arnie used to fly in the very strong Derby & District Flying Club where 500 plus pigeons per week was the norm. There were 50 members plus a waiting list and if you won the pools it was more than a week's wages ( The good old days ).He was a former secretary of the North Road Championship Club and a first class administrator. He use to write in the Racing Pigeon under the name of Copperfield. He also had quite a few good pigeons throughout his racing career but the one which people will remember the most was a pigeon called Giveaway who topped the Coalville & District Federation Race on June 3rd from Perth in 1978 by 34 ypm with a velocity of 1200 ypm plus all the other Federation 1st prizes he won. See Federation result for Perth. The federation secretary at the time was Jim Godby. Thanks for the photo Bob.
