Osmaston Park Homing Society Shows 2023.

Sunday November 5th was the date for the opening show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society. The two classes were Old cock/Old Hens through the wires with a total of 97 birds in the two classes. The judge for this show was Ian Holbent who had a hard task on his hands as the pigeons were of exceptional quality. After much deliberation the prizes were decided and the winner of the Old Cocks class and getting best in show was John Inger.

Taking second & commended was Chris Gilliver.

Third, reserve & highly commended went to Mick Willis & Family, with Hall & Torry taking fourth, and very highly commended going to Mick Usher.

The hens class was won by Alan & Liz Houldsworth who also took highly commended.

Taking second & fourth was Mick Usher with Mick Stone taking third & commended. Reserve went to John Inger, with very highly commended going to Chris Gilliver.

It was the second show on the 19th November which was Young Cocks/Young Hens T.T.W. 

Judging this one was Clarence Rex Haymes and his son Carl.

In the Young Hens class there were 45 entries with the red card and best in show going to Mick Willis & Family who also took Commended.

Taking Second, Reserve, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended was club secretary Steve Stone. Alan & Liz Houldsworth took Third with Stewart Wainwright taking Fourth .

In the Young Cocks Class there were 56 entries and taking the red card was Chris Gilliver who also took Best Opposite Sex.

In Second, Third & Fourth were Willis Family with Stevenson & Willis taking Reserve. The next two positions Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended went to Alan & Liz Houldsworth with Shenton Brothers ( Ron & Norman ) taking Commended.

Sunday November 26th was the date for the third show. The judge for this one was David Poole and the task ahead looked a tough one. The two classes for this one were Old Cocks /Young Hens both T.T.W. The show was very well supported once again with a total entry of 118 birds in the two classes.

In the Old Cocks class there were 65 entries with John Inger having an excellent show taking five of the eight prizes winning positions 1st, 2nd, 4th, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended also Best In Show. Mick Willis & Family took third with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking Reserve and Stewart Wainwright taking Commended.

In the Young Hens class there were 53 entries with John Inger continuing to dominate taking 1st & 3rd, also taking Best Opposite Sex. Taking 2nd, 4th & Commended were Mick Willis & Family. Hall & Torry took Reserve with Mick Usher taking Very Highly Commended. Taking Highly Commended was club secretary Steve Stone.

The Osmaston Park Homing Societies fourth show was held on Saturday December 2nd and the two classes were Old Hens/Young Cocks T.T.W. The judges for this one were Gavin Cooper & Jack Walker. Once again the show was very well supported with entries for both classes totalling 115 and the condition of the pigeons in both classed were in excellent condition.

In the Old Hens class there were 60 birds entered and getting the winner of this class also Best in Show Was Mick Willis & Family. Taking Second was Mick Stone with Stewart Wainwright taking Third & Fourth. In Reserve were Shenton Brothers ( Ron & Norman . ) with Paul Adams taking Very Highly Commended. Alan & Liz Houldsworth took Highly & Commended with John Inger taking Commended.

In the Young Cocks class there were 55 entries with the red card going to Mick Willis & Family who also took Fourth, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended and Best Opposite Sex. Taking Second was the partnership of Stevenson & Willis with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking Third with Chris Gilliver taking Reserve & Commended.

Sunday 10th December was the final show for the Osmaston Park Homing Society  and the classes were Any Age Any Sex and the Champion of Champions class. The show was well supported once again with 107 birds entered in the two classes. The judge for these two classes was Darren Oakley and once again the standard was very high.

It turned out to be an excellent day for John Inger winning both classes. In the Cocks class John Inger took 1st & Highly Commended. In Second was Greengrass who also took Very Highly Commended.  Alan & Liz Houldsworth took third with Mick Willis & Family taking Fourth. Taking Reserve & Commended was Mick Usher.

In the Hens class John Inger took the red card also 3rd with Alan & Liz Houldsworth taking Second, Reserve & Highly Commended. In Fourth were Shenton Brothers ( Ron & Norman ).Taking Very Highly Commended was Mick Usher with Greengrass taking Commended.

Then it was the turn of the Champion of Champions class to find the Supreme Champion of the show series. The judges for this class were Clive & Matt Herrot.

Taking 1st prize and winning the Supreme Champion of the show series 2023 was  Alan & Liz Houldsworth.

In Second, Reserve & Commended was Mick Willis & Family. Taking Third, Fourth, Very Highly Commended & Highly Commended was John Inger.

There is one person I must give a special mention to for his sponsorship which helped this show series to be a huge success and that is Garry Fletcher. Garry gave £100 prize money for the Champion of Champions class also a tin of chocolates for every class winner in the champion of Champions class plus a tin of chocolates for the bar staff at the club headquarters. Gary also gave £70 towards the prize money of each class plus a keepsake trophy for the champion of champions winner for the next 6 years. From all of us Garry Thank You.

The show committee Mollie Garrat, Mick  Willis, George Torry & Steve Lambert who done an excellent job putting up the show cages got everything very well organised and when the show was over putting all the pens away and tidying up and finally to the fanciers who came along and filled the pens up every week with their hopefuls and donated raffle prizes.

The total raised in the show series was £1062.10 less 300.00 which was paid out in prize money  which left a total of £762.10. WHAT CAN ONE SAY BUT THANK YOU. ALL THE BEST FOR 2024.
