LANARKSHIRE FEDERATION
Tom Corrie jnr
This week’s race was scheduled for Kelso but due to the unfavourable conditions at race point they were switched to Dunbar on the East coast. The 4,100 birds plus 18 Fauldhouse club baskets were away at 11am in a light SE wind. The journey back into Lanarkshire was around the 56 miles journey. The birds made light work of the flight with the winners high in the 1600ypm. A terrific race unfolded with most bird’s home within the first hour. Well done to race controller Tommy McDonagh for his careful consideration and management of the race. Dunbar has always been a great race point for the first flights of the season!
The winners of 1st section 1st Open are the partnership of Jim Hendrie & Sons who reside in the village of Salsburgh. This village lies on the east of the federation. It was a brilliant day for the partnership winning the first four in the Open.

This week’s federation winners from left to right Danny, Jim & Thomas Hendrie
I have known the partnership for a good number of years and the father and son’s partnership have put up some great performances within the Scottish Midland federation before recently moving to the Lanarkshire federation. Well what a way to top the Lanarkshire federation for the first time! I phoned Danny and congratulate them; their winner was bred by fellow Lanarkshire member Jim Cameron for the partnership and this hen cleared the pad just before the other three loft mates. Danny said it was a great race with most of the bird’s home in jig time! Well done Jim, Danny & Thomas on a top result.
